  • If I can wish for a single feature it would be addy.io / simplelogin.com style e-mail aliases. Preview UX looks great - hope to see it soon.

So one thing that I'm looking to do is create an API abstraction layer that meets the requirements of basic browser security settings, and then I'll create a browser addon that can generate aliases for you on the fly when registering for websites.

Here's a preview of things to come for you guys. Everything you see here is fully functional.

Can we add some glitter and pink to the UI by any chance? Or maybe some weeb and anime characters?

    Hey friends,
    [...]

    • AI spam filtering. I don't mean "yet another algorithm" here. I mean full human reasoning by LLM to determine spam in ways that spammers cannot simply "trick" it by spelling HomeDepot as H0m3D3p0t. Imagine three text boxes that ask: "Tell me about yourself," "What type of email do you like to receive," "What type of email do you not like to receive." Imagine instead of SpamAssassin headers saying things like "This email had a link, that adds 0.1 to the spam score" we have a summary that says "I know that Bob is a small town baker. Bob likes to receive email from his customers and vendors. Bob doesn't like to receive email about SEO. This email is the type of email that Bob does not like to receive, so I've marked it as spam." You'll provide your own API key for ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude. We're looking into providing in-house AI as a subscription for those with privacy concerns. This whole feature will be optional, standard filtering will not be replaced. It has already been tested, the biggest hurdles are not about "how" to implement the technical parts.

Maybe also support Openrouter or and let the user pick what model they want to use?

Might toss something out for Cyber Monday. As usual I play it by ear. I try not to make plans so Murphy can't relax ๐Ÿ˜‚

This would be aweesome. I use the built in thing in Safari to do this constantly, as well as this: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/icloud-hide-my-email/omiaekblhgfopjkjnenhahfgcgnbohlk

Funny you should mention, that was on my mind as well. Though, I have to make sure to limit it to models that will actually take my instructions and return the correct values. The most reasonable model outside of the big 3 has been GPT-OSS so far.

  • @jar Love the service. According to the docs, it looks like you added an SMTP over HTTP endpoint even though you told me it's not even being planned a while ago, so thank you for that. Regarding Fusion, my one request is to PLEASE expose all functionality through a REST API. I'm planning to test the DirectAdmin API access for a service I'm building out, which will basically provide managed NS for customers' domains and automatically provision email accounts for them.

Thank you for the great work and prices!

You got it, it's all there. Just be mindful that some commands require higher user levels, and keep in mind that DA now has two APIs and only one is fully documented in one place. Legacy API is partially documented in one place and then spread throughout release notes.

I'll also be making a DA API abstraction layer to help transition and unify some things in the near future. The backend of it is already complete.

If you have an account on the fusion.mxrouting.net server, feel free to use your DirectAdmin login at https://mxpanel.jar.land to test out our new control panel. It is not yet complete, and it does not currently support two-factor authentication.

Is that only available on fusion (and not the servers with name of days)?

For the moment. It'll require an internal bridge to each server so once it's feature complete, I'll need to decide how I'm going to either dynamically delegate the backend server by login, or have a selection box (really don't want that).

With the framework in place and the initial security audit complete, the rest of the feature rollout is in place. I would like to invite users to test our new control panel at it's temporary home: https://mxpanel.jar.land/

You can choose your server from the selection box (looking into more elegant solution for that but we have username overlap across the fleet), and then login with your DirectAdmin credentials. It currently does NOT support logging in to DA accounts that have 2FA enabled.

If you change your Spam Filter settings, there may be certain settings that you cannot set back to how they were without going back to DirectAdmin. You will notice that we are doing away with options that cause user confusion, and replacing them with standardized settings that best represent the needs of our user base as a whole, in the context of what our systems can do. Many of you change those settings in a different way, but few of you understand what those settings actually do and what all of the implications for them are in the current software stack. Frankly, many of you configure yourselves into confusing scenarios and the time spent trying to explain it is one of our most costly problems. You cannot be blamed, but I must resolve that with the options currently available to me. I assure you, the settings it applies are very sane in terms of providing the best results with the least amount of user confusion.

Why do people check the box on the order form that said "I understand that this order will fail if I am using a proxy/VPN or a fake identity" and then repeatedly try to place orders via VPN.

  • thanks @jar for the promo. You got a new loyal customer :-)

  • Oh, this CyberMonday promo is so good, but it makes the lifetime promo somehow look bad. For 12 years, you just pay 60 bucks for 10 GB. And only after 12 years, the lifetime can be worth it.

Tested the new interface - understand what you are trying to achieve.
Initial comments - Need email tracking and webmail choice included.
In Email Accounts, not obvious that "Select Domain" is a select box.
Otherwise everything looks good and appears to work

    edit - added webmail.

  • Priority support is 2000 dollars. Noice. Dis anyone bought it? Also, there is lifetime deal, valued 1dollar per year and upon adding to basket it becomes 274 usd :D . 274 years of mxroute. I bet after that period no email as we know will exist.
