Dartnode style queue is the best way. Have one db table (handles concurrency) which gives out reservation token and notes the position, wait for payment, release after some time, repeat. Refunding dozens of people who got to the payment step is cumbersome for all involved.
Great I just fucking cut my thumb open.
(Unrelated to hosting)
@kuroit
My brain works strangely when I'm stressed. 2026, so 20x2+8 😂
want me to kiss it better?
like drawing dicks!
@emgh will drop some that require that later today
Still missed, I guess this is what fate it is.
Will the activity continue?
But where did the 8 come from?
Am kinda more concerned that I hit pay on a screen that said $15 and was billed $30 instead.
Are you a dog or other creature with kinda unfilthy saliva?
Either way the answer is no but I'm still asking
Thank you @kuroit, I got it.
Are there any other events? I just woke up and missed so many great activities.
really sucks to have missed everything travelling around past few days.
any more deals?
your questions are too hard.
You are naive, paypal job is to handle payment, not checking your stock
As "no way it could have been prevented", then you have problem with your stack, you didnt check if someone already click pay, you didnt check if someone already at paypal page, you didnt check if someone already have invoice in that product
So "Race condition wasn't possible to correct with 2ms differences." is also incorrect, you assume that the problem is the computational, or are you use old CPU for your server?
2ms, you say 2ms is impossible to correct, thats must be a joke, even in finance, such error is enormous
Also "They were on payment page at same time" this is your problem to let this happen, clearly not preparing the sudden visit.
You should read how to use single thread database, especially sqlite, it lock away shit when its updating, obviously will fix your "Race condition wasn't possible to correct with 2ms differences."
Bitcoin has a 5% discount
I missed you 🥲
Traveling is more valuable than addiction to buying and math. Enjoy it!
2+6. It's a good thing to know (my weakness) for me, through a flash sale. Thank you @kuroit 😊 (I even tried 28)
[??:??] HostBrr: 70% off site-wide cPanel Reseller in DE/US/SG - 5+ Accounts 25GB+ from $13.5/yr+
Enjoy.
This was done...
When the first person clicked the PayPal button, a lockfile was made. The page would have loaded out of stock at that point. If IPN came, lockfile became permanent. If not in 5 minutes, it unlocked.
Problem was - they were already all on the page and already clicking PayPal button at the EXACT SAME TIME. So that lock file didn't matter. They were at PayPal, not on our website.
Saying it hard is easier than doing the hard one
same here, I am wondering if those deals are even catch by normal LET users, or some Chinese mafia is behind taking everything and re-sell it somewhere
it's not fair
why manage inventory based on whether paypal makes a payment instead of orders?
uh sir, race condition is 100% preventable, period.
if not, skill issue.
Just so you know... it is not easy to come up with hard puzzle / questions that's not easily solvable by ChatGPT. Talk is cheap.
And the truth is, why would small providers spend so much more time developing the puzzles etc just to sell deals that doesn't make them much money? By business standpoint the time spent on developing / designing the puzzles could better be used elsewhere.
In 2024 I tried to have some custom captcha - which prove to be working. I only accepted to organise this year's event very urgently so don't really have time to deploy that again. However, maybe that's something we (as a platform) can do in the future.
Lockfile in multithread? thats your problem
Read my last reply. We did indeed lockfile it. But everyone was on PayPal, not on our website. Our website page was locked. Anyone new coming to it got an out of stock. Those already at PayPal our system can't stop. PayPal link had a stock limit 1. I've already submitted a PayPal ticket to tell them what happened and ask them why their stock control on managed button links didn't work.
