time to watch Grappler Baki,, otherwise all i think about is food. and gotta wait some more..
Thanks for that suggestion. Was looking for anime recommendations for next year.
Baki Hanma is the next iteration of that, very very very good, IMO
Oh ok. Added to my watch list for next year.
Anybody else online as well. Seems everyone's busy again.
Slowly catching up. Dinner time first....> @noob404 said:
In some counties they skip the number 13 on the floor plan. So you from 12 to 14.
True
it's usually a thing on LET though. Also some Chinese new year's offers when you look around. Parties all year through:)
It depends on what type of social media networks your target audience and the country where you are from use, for example from where I'm from most people use Telegram & Twitter and a forum like lowendtalk is not really popular
Here is a simple yet affective approach in telegram that I've used back when I was active:
1. I'll contact some small telegram bot owners/support accounts that I know have a public channel/group and ask if they want a free/sponsored host
2. if they want one, I'll give them a 24h test account and if they want to commit I'll renew it for 6 months (it'll be a reasonable price after that free 6 months), all they have to do is to forward some of our hosting's channel's posts/offers, we'll tell them what posts to forward in a sponsored users group
3. The thing is that the posts can't be too many for them to forward, it'll be annoying; just 1 post per month is good, you can also automate these promotions by creating a telegram bot that will automatically do this and auto-check to make sure the admin didn't delete the post or something (for example only for the first 48 hours)
In this method you'll be supporting the community around you and get a few shout-outs in return.
Collaborations also go a long way, talking to well known communities in the web dev/hosting categories and offering limited coupons or free services for their members members, will give you a lot of traffic and sign-ups, the channel owner will also be thrilled for being able to give their members some good deals and coupons that other communities won't be able to do
Because your reseller is basically free (if won in giveaways) you don't have to worry about the cost of renewing the reseller and you can afford giving away free hosts for some time until you can make those free sponsored people to paid customers or have other people sign up and buy your services based on the ads
Managing the plans and giveaways falls down to your own experience in the space, like should you give people 5GB hosts for 2 months? or a 50MB host for 12 months?
You should also make users want to upgrade from free accounts based on the cpanel's package limitations, like free hosts will only be able to have 1 database, no addon domain, etc
Note: the domain for free hosts will always be a random sub-domain of your own domain that will point to your hosting, do not give away free services that users can use without being attached to you in public, if you give them a free host with their own domain, why would they want to ever pay you?
Make sure to not give these sub domains from your own hosting website, someone might do something weird and you don't want to be directly associated with it, just redirect that domain to a page in your main website that explains domain XYZ is for free hosts/services from this hosting, this way you'll keep your promotion and also people will know who to report to if something went wrong.
We can talk more specifics in PM, this post is getting too long but I think some of the points made in this post might slightly help others with their marketing and give-aways if they ever wanted to do one...
Exactly. I have heard the same thing
This is gold. I would have never thought about using Telegram channels to promote the hosting service. My best bet would have been reddit. But, what you said makes much better sense.
And, thanks for the awesome tip on not using the primary domain for providing free domain. I will PM you later on if I do proceed with it.
Thanks a lot for this. I have screenshot this and will read it again when/if I do go ahead with this.
inches. My brain doesn't think meters as I was only taught imperial growing up. I also don't know C though I can do a rought estimate in my head converting. I googled, it's like 152.4mm.
I do use 24hr time though. Growing up, my grandpa always used it so I switch to it to "learn" it and then it kind of just stuck with me. It's funny, I used to have to convert 24hr to 12hr (AM/PM) to understand what time, now it's the opposite
I haven't done any research into GPUs yet, so i don't know xD
Imperial system in US? Are you taught both systems in school there?
Oh ok. Will depend on your use purpose. For gaming, I guess AMD is bang for buck, for AI, NVIDIA is just better due to the convenience
I'll be glad if I can help you with your journey, telegram bots are so good for free hosting, because they are usually way more lightweight than websites, they are mostly using php to run them which is handled super fast and doesn't effect the server that much
You can give away a lot of them compared to free hosts for websites which might be using wordpress or some other platform that might take a lot of processing
It's a really cheap way to promote because a lot of those people who will see your posts might be interested in your actual products, they'll sign up and become a customer
Also make sure to have an active support account and a good discussion group in telegram if you are taking this route, don't make the users go outside of the app and use your websites chat feature if they have saw your hosting in the app
Thanks for that. I do have some experience with Telegram Bot. Built a reminder app for a client an year or so back. Testing with the not is also easier from what I remember since the webhook doesn't need to have SSL. Moreover, since TG bot servers can now be built from source and installed on locally as well.
We are taught how to convert in math class and do use it a little in some science classes but that's about it. Basically just for those lessons/sections and nothing more. Everything else is imperial so unless you use it often, our brains just don't think it. It's the same way with the whole 12/24 time. If an average person asked you what time it is and you tell them 17:00, they will give you this confused expression until you say 5pm (just picked a random time)
yes telegram has done a lot of good changes to the API over the years, like setting ip addresses to your webhook makes it so telegram doesn't have to look up your domain's IP and delivers them faster, having a local server is also good but it might be a bit overkill if you don't have that many users
Wasn't there a Poo horror movie released recently?
Had lasagna. Taking it easy on Sundays.
Probably cos its a niche markets. More expensive than locations nearby and connectivity doesn't differ much.
It is the same way for us as well. We are taught basic to mid-advanced conversion and then real-life takes care of the rest. For example, railway timings in India are in the 24 hour format.
Hey could you please double the bandwidth (as offered)
Invoice number: #19417939
order number: 5691935302
Thank you!
Oh I saw the offer. Was like 18/y. Almost purchased it.
Yah. True. I love the PHP SDK they have. And yes, I would prolly is their official bot than set up one locally when I go ahead with it. Haven't touched the SDK in quite some time now. Will need a quick look at it to understand what has changed
When? I haven't heard about it.
Oh. I love lasagna. It's not very popular here. Had lasagna recently and I fell in love. First tried veg with zucchini and other veggies. That was good, but chicken's much better
Yeah, I like the total control you have with vm/dedicated but its more work to maintain. And there's no redundancy unless you go cloud.
So yeah, shared is a good alternative if you have something powerful and reliable. Most cost effective as well.
For anything serious I usually cluster ateast 2 Dedis. Want disks to be in raid so yeah, that adds up.
I mean I see there are people buying it who don't prolly have Alabania-specific needs. I am wondering if there's any other use to getting these VPSes for any specific purpose that's not talked about a lot.
