it is basically another disk that you can attach to or detach from a VM.
No, it will only be available to the VM that you attach it to.
You attach a block storage to a VM, and VM OS will recognise a new disk (it's like you plug a USB drive to your computer), then you install a filesystem on it (ext4, xfs, etc) and mount it to a mount point e.g /mnt/something, then you can read and write data into it.
hope this helps.
Is the 50% for HDD block storage an ongoing offer, or is that part of the Dec 2 end date?
all offers in the OP will end on the 2nd of Dec.
Thanks. Better jump on it then
Dear Onidel, bought a server during last year offer. Now if I want to add 20GB NVME, it's increasing the price to 194.88AUD/year. https://snipboard.io/HiOzNQ.jpg
It's quite unfair that for 20GB increase, I have to pay full price, and not pro-rate increase.
"unfair" seems to be ... unfair to us
promotional plans were never designed to support upgrades. this is why it is important to choose the right specifications before purchasing. if upgrades were allowed while keeping the promotional discount, anyone could buy the minimum specs just to secure the low rate and upgrade later - seems unfair to providers
that said, we are working on an update that will let you upgrade disk space without losing your promotional discount. You will just pay the regular price for the extra disk. No ETA though, as this is a nice-to-have feature.
that would be great. Thanks for the reply.
looks good bought some. GLWS
Interested in OniBox - Storage VM?
Is there a promotion for double or triple bandwidth if I comment here?
I am interested in the VMs of @onidel, but would like to know whether these requirements can be met:
https://duxsco.de/#14-system-requirements
Furthermore, how is peering, especially to DTAG? And, can I have AMD SEV-SNP enabled?
UPDATE: I know it's better to have a dedicated server security-wise. But, pricing. And, I just don't want to deviate from my guide due to lazyness.
no. wanted to keep this thread clean
You can enable TPM and AMD SEV-SNP yourself from our control panel. Only issue is SEV-SNP is not working with TPM at the moment
thx for the info. If needed, I can live without TPM. Does Secure Boot and UEFI work with SEV-SNP?
yes. you need to enable UEFI from our control panel (some images are using BIOS). the uefi firmware has secure boot enabled by default.
also make sure your kernel is 6.11+ before you enable SEV-SNP, otherwise it can not boot.
@onidel Currently trying to register. If this still holds true, why is AUD the default currency during registration? I wish for only my credit card company to do the currency conversion. Should I go with USD then?
yeah you should go with USD. Other currencies will get different price everyday due to fx rate changes.
@onidel Can promo and annual payment discount be combined? I added the promo code "ONI-BF-2025", but the price doesn't change. Will the discount be added later on?
GLWS
promo code will override the annual payment discount. what specs and payment term did you choose?
I chose:
=> Base Price $9.90/mo
=> Total 0.015 USD/hour
I didn't click on "Deploy Now" yet.
the promo does not apply to hourly billing.
also make sure to click the green tick next to the promo code textbox to apply (not the best UX I know)
thx. With the click on the green tick and after choosing annual payment, the 60% got applied.
@onidel Do you not allow Virtualization? I cannot add a VM, bridged or routed.
I mean I can add it but network is not working at all either thru bridged or routed. I rented an extra ip from you for a vm. Configuration is fine.
Thanks.
Solid provider!
should work with routed config. did you enable ip forward and arp proxy?
Yes I did. It did not work.
I opened a ticket with the config file in it. I hope you closely look at it.
Thank you.
Anyway I could get quarterly payments for S3 ?
no sorry
Question regarding S3 storage. If I need both Singapore and Sydney - should i at this moment contract 2x Singapore and later one of them will be moved to Sydney?
Do you consider some other S3 storage locations? Specifically South America, Brazil?
yes, but only if you can wait and happy to use Singapore in the meantime. we do not have a firm ETA for Sydney yet.
there is no plan for South America yet, but we'll look into this
