    Over 100 :) all special deals :)

    Cost lunar = Monthly
    Cost Anual = Yearly

If you don't mind me asking, where is this image from?

Hi, it is from my own panel, I had to build a panel to be able to manage all of them and understand what costs me and when I need to have the buget, plus imagine if you need to ssh into each one of them to do an update :) it will take me ages, this way I had to do something :)

    Thanked by 1NotFoundException
  • Temporarily 2 Kimsufi servers while I migrate, €25.29 + $11.80 /month
1 small VPS with Virtono: €9.95/year
6 VMs on Oracle Cloud's free tier

I don't see a reason to not run second/third probes for any network - the more there probes the less chance all of them will be eventually offline.

Not much, around 2 dedi, and 8 VPS, around 225€/yr

2 Dedi with 32tb and 16tb as storage
4 VPS act as a shield for my dedi from DMCA
1 other as VPN and grafana for monitoring
    3 other idling

Also have 1 homeserver (1650v4, 6x1.92tb ssd, 2x 4tb hdd) with around €7/m electrical usage

Your storage dedis seem really cheap. I'm shocked that it's possible to get 48TB of dedi storage and bunch of other VPSs as well for only 225€/yr. I'm paying around $1.25/TB/month for storage VPSs and I thought that's really cheap already

I think this price is monthly, not yearly.

The ASN registration was a $7/one-time Black Friday dealz.
Nowadays RIPE tax is €50/year charged to the LIR, so that LIR charged us $75 in 2024 and we hope for the same amount in 2025.
Possessing the ASN enables us to request free IXVMs, which are small servers connected to Internet eXchange Points, in various regions.

And what does having those IXVMs accomplish for you, on a practical level, that you would otherwise lack?

IXVM = free VPS as long as the BGP session is kept up.
Sometimes they are in interesting locations.

Two decades ago, I used to rent three dedicated servers for a budget of 200€ per month.

Now, I rent just one VPS for 5€ per month that allows me to do more than I was ever able to do back to that time! Progress in motion.

So it is possible to come here and buy only one server. You are strong
Need to know the specs of this VM your use case?

I shouldn't have calculated that... I should not have calculated that.
I knew it was up there, but damn not that high.

I'm too ashamed to a put a dollar figure on it but lets just say it's in the thousands of USD/yr
....Sooo anyone got any deals on therapy for addiction/hoarding?

  • I'm too embarrassed to give the numbers, so here a visualization instead

For reference, I only had one server before I joined here. I blame love LET.

  • this year is the great cancellation for me. dropping most if not all deals below 2GB ram and less active/repute providers

I can only think of Fog-IXP. The real professional IXPs would never do such a thing.

  • Ive got 3 VPS in EU and paying about 25e/yr

    Thanked by 1remy
  • I only have one VPS purchased from RackNerd and two VPS that I won in giveaways (DartNode and Host4Fun). I use them for personal VPN. I am very satisfied with these VPS.

Before you let them go, please make a transfer thread. Idlers never discotinue.

  • 2 VPS (each 4C + 12GB RAM + 500GB HDD + 50TB bandwidth cost only 8.5$ per month) -->> @TNAHosting
    1VPS (30GB SSD + 6GB RAM + 2C +2TB) -->> @DediRock -->> 7$/YEAR
    1 Storage host 500GB HDD + 3GBRAM 2TB bandwidth 8$/YEAR -->> @Hostbrr

    Total 117$/year

  • I didn't do the math, but I believe I spend more than US$2,000 per year, all of which are idle.

  • About $575/yr for 10 VPSes.

I'm jealous of the massive server fleets some of you are running. I'm planning to cancel a few but maybe pick up one or two BF deals.

I only opened this thread to make you all feel guilty, hoping you would start transferring your best deals so i can snatch them all myself
    But it does not work.

  • :) Hold on. Hold on.Setting aside the servers you own, could you tell us how you made all that money?

    At work.
VPS hoarding are for single people who work a lot.

Basically... we spend time to earn money such that we have no time to use those VPS and thus idling them.

    Hi,

    i think you missunderstand me.

My point is not that server resources are running for nothing and thats bad for environment. ( Thats actually another topic ). My point is not even if anything is wasted or not. Again, its everyones choice and decision what to do with his time and money ( or not ).

I was just curious why people invest so much time and money to make any good use of 60 servers. Good use in the sense of good for the specific user who rents them. I mean he/she invests time and money. What does the user get in return? And idling server that does.... .... idling? It was already mentioned that this is some kind of digital feel_good hoarding.... thats fine with me. Its anyway not about judgement. Again, everyone is free to do or not what ever, i respect that.

I was just curious what projects/usecases/what ever might be out there to make that many servers needed.

I kind of agree with the gist of the post.

Nothing against people who can buy what they want but since it is LET, instead of hoarding, it is better if one could release it for use by someone else.

Now I am working so whether it is more or less, I could spend some in servers for my uses. But I won't forget the time during hostel days when I was in dire need of a server (even 512 mb would have had suffice) but I couldn't afford.

That's why I like LET. There is something for everyone.

    1650v4 64gb 2x1920nvme X 1 14.99/month
    total 65~ euros a month :)

    were do you rent ?

  • Here's me looking at everyone's answers and thinking they're all quite reasonable... Until I realise that they're answers per year and not per month!

  • i have 3 VPS
    2x 6C 26 GB Ram 300 gb Disk
    1x 4C 16 GB Ram 200gb Disk

  • Sign of a problem: when you have so many and keep buying more faster than updating the list of them in your spreadsheet. So I can't answer exactly even if I wanted.

Hear hear! That's why I have to keep all of my servers doing nothing. I've planned quite some projects, but I do OT every day. I just can't focus on my projects when I'm conscious.

  • Actually 2 Storage App Slots. 18TB and 24TB

    30,76€ & 30€ per month.

Thinking about getting a small vps for VPN cause Vodafone Germany decided to step out of Public peering. (That mf‘s)
