RACKNERD-STRIKES-BACK!
weren't you spreading these rumors yesterday?
WHO? Me?
Impossible
so lets talk shop then..
has anyone tried UBUNTU 25 yet? I saw it in 1 of the OS install options in the panels, but not sure if I am ready to try it.. i was just getting used to 20, when it was dropped. and it's already 25.. what resources does it need compared to 22/24? more space? more ram?
Oh you get Snaps and a wonderfull ui.
In the console it’s still Debian 😅
i actually never tried desktop version, or did but forgot already.. i only go for console..
Just bought my first VPS with RackNerd. Order Number: 5596458129
No clue but I would personally not use non lts ubuntu unless it's a throwaway/I don't care about it or a required driver is only available in it. Only because it's like 6 or 9 months from release you will get patches/updates before being forced to upgrade to the next (if you want patches/updates)...
previous years bf thread, searching, and AI
What about debian then?
I used it for test them and it works for the benchmark and some info based on php confs.
Here is a Benchmark for RackNerd Shared Hosting (30 GB plan).
I believe debian 12 has support/updates until this coming summer and debian 13 was released not long ago. IIRC, debian 13 will have support until like 2030. Ubuntu 24.04 was released in April 2024 (can tell with their version numbers) and provide regular updates for 5 years (2029).
I'm not saying don't use OS-es with short support (only say don't use an OS that's no longer supported) but I personally dislike being forced to test/upgrade in a short amount of time, especially since you don't know if they changed things (like how ubuntu forces virtual python environments for pip installs if it's not available via apt). I much rather casually do it and stay on an OS for longer if needed.
just tell me, am i too old? all i do with AI is argue... trying to catch it on some stupid errors.. everything else so far i can do without AI, or simply find online what other did with AI, like super mega crazy images, etc.. and even then i very meticulously check things like number of fingers and toes, if it's a human picture or video, check for weird imperfections, check for repeating patterns from image to image or video to video.. i don't trust AI, maybe i'd say.. read too many sci-fi books where no matter what we do, AI eventually takes over the world..
a total of 9.20, wow. I was wondering thou, how do you assign scores for example for latency and DNS? did you decide that this long is that score, and that long is much better score? i am just curious..
annoys me too, but does it force VE? it only complains that unexpected shit may happen, right?..
hehe, I do say "please" and "thank you" to ai but I do it without really thinking about it just because that's how I would chat with others if I was asking them to do something. I haven't tried to stop doing it because I hope if we ever have to bow to our robot overlords, they will remember
Yes, I manually defined specific "thresholds" for them. It tests against google, cloudflare and github and use test files from different OVH datacentres.
For Network Latency:
For DNS and download:
Hahaha 😂 Love the determination.
Hi @DaDeveloper -- We're definitely seeing a noticeable surge this year. A lot more orders rolling in, and naturally that translates into more double bandwidth requests too. Good problem to have, and we’re doing our best to keep up with the pace, inventory wise
Order number 9170983850. Thanks!
Hi @hostkar -- as long as it’s legal usage, and isn’t violating any standard abuse terms, I don’t see why not
i'll be one of the first to go into the resistance underground... i mean, AI sometimes is so annoying.. One time I was watching a boxing match and noticed some celebrity there, i think was MR BEAST whos videos i don't want, don't know or like, just his face is memorable. So I asked gemini: was that mr beast at the fight of boxer1 vs boxer2? and gemini goes: yes, Mr Beast attented the fight, took a gut-punch from Mike Tyson for promo reasons, and later that night boxer1 beat boxer2. I mean, WTF??? And this wasn't the first time it spoilt a fight for me... or some event.. Can't freaking ask anything.. And all it replid to my accusations of ruining my freaking night for me - i am a machine, i should know better. Now I've learned this stupid trait of it and if i'm watching something that outcome i don't want to know, i formulate question: DO NOT REVEAL THE RESULT OF FIGHT OR COMPETITION, but blah blah blah... It seems to help.. and many other examples I have.. that's why I always argue with it, it is not trying to learn from me and my instructions, you know? if anything, it always says "i am a this or that, i don't know better, i should know better", but it's always after the fact..
Hi @zcorps -- appreciate the kind words! ❤️
And yeah, we hear you! More is on the way. This stretch of the season usually brings plenty of extras, so keep an eye on the thread
