I'm excited for the new VPS deals, but I've also moved to a nice home server setup. 5950x with 16 cores, 64 gb ram. I've got a couple dozen proxmox vms and containers. I also have a TrueNas server with a cheaper processor and 64gb ram.
That nas failed me, though. I had 4 refurbished server drives in a RAIDZ1. One drive failed, and while I was waiting for the replacement, a second drive failed. So now I'm waiting for the second drive to arrive, and I'll need to restore everything from backups, since RAIDZ1 can only handle a single drive failure.
I guess, the first few episodes and even the first two seasons are slower, but, the last season is just fire!

That's nothing compared to what we are actually capable of. Welcome back.
But it has been so great otherwise. My biggest two uses for the nas are Jellyfin and Immich. I have a few large boxes of movies and tv shows, and I have enjoyed going thrift store shopping to get more. When it's running, I've got ~400 movies and ~40 tv series in my library, which I share with a couple friends and also my family.
And Immich has been amazing to use as my primary photo management. Auto-backups from our phones, really great local ai contextual searching, and plenty of other nice features that the developers have added in the past year.
but does anyone know a browser addon/extension that will simply reload page and have literally zero other features? i tried a few recently on a different errand, trying to catch a restock on some servers, and none just do reload, all those addons boast literally hundreds of features, so much so that i uninstalled every single one i tried..
How much did all of this cost?

I got 4 12TB drives a year ago when it was rock bottom prices, at $70 each. I wish I had gotten more at that price, but at least they have a warranty even though they're refurbished.
The 5950x cpu I got for may $200 or $300 on sale, and the motherboard was one I already had.
Ram prices have shot up in the past few months, but I bought 4 32gb ddr4 sticks a couple years ago. Though I don't recall what I paid - I'm guessing only a couple hundred.

Yah, I saw a few posts on Reddit showing insanely idiotic prices for RAM. Ig with AI, everyone is gobbling RAM sticks up. But, yah, nice specs on the drive. And 12TB drives at $70 feel like a dream, where I am from.

Which seems a bit strange. VRAM prices, sure, but regular RAM? I haven't actually played much with local AI, but I thought they were fairly slow unless you had a GPU with enough VRAM. Didn't think system memory was much involved, but I guess there must be some models that are fast enough with system ram.
I am the kinda guy who sits through shitty shows and movies just because I began them. I only abandon extremely bad movies.
Dan Harmon's work, he did a few seasons of Dungeons & Dragons like talk show with guests and voices and partly in cartoons, so now he doing kinda similar as a full blown cartoon. good stuff. imaginative. i love it when they "read books" or letters off the ceramic vases... haha...
This happens every year. And, LET staff just upgrade their Digital Ocean droplet to handle the extra traffic for these 3 months. I guess its taking them some time to do the upgrade this time around.
i recently stopped INVASION mid 2nd season.. could not stomach anymore really.. got annoying and boring. otherwise i usually finish shows, movies, books. but so far i've cancelled all my streaming subscriptions and only watching UFC FightPass till february.. Maybe get Paramount+ after NY, cause they will be exclusively hosting all new UFC events.. love to get a few drinks in me and watch people break each other's faces.. just love it..

Yah, I'd have thought the same as well, until I realised opensource Ollama chat models are more RAM hungry than VRAM. VRAM is more important for text to image and text to video.

neither 1 for me, TBH.. But I will check out both on the Pmpt+ when I have it.. I did watch HALO from there already. LOVE game based shows, especially TV shows. But they also have Star Trek: Lower Decks there, cartoon by Mike McMahan there, will enjoy it as well. Kinda drawn like Rick & Morty, but I don't blame.
