my GRA and RBX have additional vrack interface.
didn't try to enable it though.
@fredo1664
HA is always a requirement when i do anything. Uptime addicted.
But just look at the pricing of e.g. managed HA databases at one of the hyperscalers and than you get the fun in rebuilding that on KS-LE-B at a 1/50 of cost.
All my systems don't care if a DC or server is down somewhere. The systems are up.
Not as good yet to let a chaos monkey loose but good enough to have more then 4 years uptime with zero downtime.
That is what i call the leftover luck (e.g. the KS-LE had been a different line once that may have had vRack - ask @adns, the OVH historian - and they forgot to switch it off) but I could not count on KS having one as OVH says in their product def: no.
And - if i finally will learn bgp - I'll dig into your wg-mesh as well. Would be a nice replacement. Atm still using old-school vpn meshes.
Same but it doesn't work on my servers.. cant join them to a vrack
rigged vcrack
Do you consult on this kinda stuff? Might need to have a chat with you in the future.
Could happen in the future. It's a plan actually as what I do is only good because of the SRE thinking I do but without hyperscalers and cloud native bling talk. That's just my philosophy, it's still working even without kubernetes and all those extra layers of abstractions that just bring in extra complexities.
KISS and think and you will be good, everything you need can be found in the OSS world, you just stitch it together and be happy.
And always keep in mind: redundancy means redundancy means redundancy.
If you don't have three in a cluster, you do not need to start. That is what all my trio hunts were about.
And just a random quote from another thread:
I won't mind if a KS-LE-B is only at 5 or 10% load. It's 12 bucks.
and if you want to start with HA, start with this simple calculator here: https://www.ecyrd.com/cassandracalculator/ and try to understand the concepts behind that.
(Btw Cassandra is the king of kings for resiliency, scalability and stability, used for Apple ID and I think Netflix user accounts etc as well)
Exactly, I had a 1GB ZNC running on one of these, the rest was idle.
Now its even worse, I have 3 of them idle.
FOMO is strong, I have to come up ideas over the weekend, what to do with them.
I def hook it up, just not NVME.

@plumberg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hold your beer, get over!
Nice! Daddy deals keep on dropping! Deal of the century @plumberg !
lol just added more....
Gotta admit, I like your style.
Link? any gamble upgrades? Ryzen?
I am looking for a KS-LE-B with 64gb RAM and 2 x1.92TB NVMe in any EU location but CA account.
I can pay up to 60$ for it. I will go first if you are trusted. I can pay using amazon gift cards or crypto.
DM me if interested
Thanks
I seem to remember the AUP didn't allow IRC, has that changed or are bouncers allowed?
I am not aware that OVH said bouncers or IRC networks are forbidden.
Some even host within OVH.
Let me put my glasses on and read again.
ks-le-b with a 6 core cpu doesnt exist.............
My bad
I thought I had seen someone get that in a lottery.
Then I will reduce my requirement to a 4 core processor but hopefully with good storage and ram.
you are probably talking about KS-LE-E
it's just more expensive.
I have corrected my post now.
I was able to get a KS-LE-E from ovh directly.
Now looking to buy a KS-LE-B with 64GB RAM and 2 x 1.92TB NVMe in EU with CA account
Then you need to at least double or even triple your budget. On MJJ forum this ultimate lottery model sells about $140 - $180...
hey @brianrizzo awesome man thank you for the compliment and your support
