Dedicated Server with Windows (I have the licence) ~$60 budget
I'm looking for a Dedicated Server with either Windows 7 or Windows Server 2012 (I will provide the licence key myself)
Server will be used for Adobe After Effects, rendering video's for my YouTube channel (I'm currently doing it on my laptop, but i hate it when my laptop gets slow and that i can not play games/do stuff while rendering)
I'm looking for the following specs:
Quad Core (Dual Quad Preferred)
Minimum of 8GB RAM
500GB HDD
100Mbit network with 2TB bandwidth
My budget is around $60 /month
Any location will be fine, quick setup needed
Comments
E3-1230
8gb ram
1tb hdd
25tb @ 100mbit
Around $55 usd (40 euro)
Would be great if i also could get a quick setup
you can pick up a 8 core atom for less than $50
Would be great to know where
you really don't want an atom for video encoding
1&1
It's quite a powerfull little machine too.
I run Plex + Pogoplug on mine and works much better than the Dual core Opteron i had.
Yeah umm.. not going with them
Does this require any GPU performance? or only cpu will do the job?
why not?
CPU + RAM will do the job
Bad reviews about them
for domains and hosting yeh they suck, but the dedi's are different. they are good value. i've been with them for over a year and had no problems.
Increased my budget to $60, i need this server ASAP
Hi,
I have one of these here in our rack at Quadranet LA,
Dual L5420 / 8 GB RAM / 500 GB x 2 and 10 TB bandwidth @ 100 Mbit/sec and can offer it for $60/month.
EDIT: I can provide you a KVM and you could install windows on it.
It very much does. After effects is not worth using without a reasonable GPU unless you're rendering out SD title screens with little animation.
IMO stick to the laptop
It doesn't really need a GPU, it's only using my RAM and CPU when rendering at my laptop
FlipHost's Black Friday is still active, Dual L5520, 24GB RAM for $49/mo. Though check first with them if they have one ready to deploy.

Already tried to contact Harry on Skype, but haven't got an answer yet
Online.net? Their 29 Euro box with an E3 should do the trick for you.
Mine was delivered in a few hours, but I could've just been lucky.
Few hours is unlucky with them it's usually less then ten minutes
Make VM, install your own windows inside the VM?
Or why do you have to use windows in the first place? There must be some video encoding software for linux too...
Not adobe after effects, remember that i'm rendering a video using some "effects" on it
Well then you have my deepest sympathies. Jumping out of a window sounds more fun than watching a laptop CPU encode with AE
hmm some times keys work on a particular ISO and not on all, just saying.
online.net / kimsufi ? :E
I can offer DUAL XEON L5520 2.26GHZ, 8GB ram, 1TB HD, 10TB BW on 1gbit line for $60/m
Windows KVM with 8 CPU E3-1230 v2 for 28$
Just wondering, but why don't you just build a desktop instead? You could definitely get something that is much better for your first 3 requirements of your required spec(for the network, it'd be dependent on where you are). If you consider your dedi for at least two years, then you may as well as invest more at first to buy a desktop instead(which is more powerful than the dedi, but it may be slower in terms of network speed).
How much RAM?
