Jokes on you, they literally do not.

They even use Apache so that’s an extra + for all of you clearly in some mysterious way (sexually?) aroused by old tech.

    Ah, the nostalgia

Even they were surprised it works

I have searched far and wide the past hour looking for a domain registrar that does not require JavaScript, alas my attempts have been unfruitful, even registrars supposedly catering towards "privacy" and providing onion domains require this dreadful disease currently plaguing my beloved web.

The following registrars are some I have considered but have had to dismiss.
    Namecheap (including spaceship)
    NiceNIC
    ablehost
    regway
    njalla
    VSYS
    IncogNET
    MyNymBox
    OrangeWebsite
    1984

I do not care for the information they require be it my address or mothers maiden name but I shouldn't have to run JavaScript to register a domain.

Bro’s talking about JavaScript like it's the Black Death.
Also, fun fact: the search engine you used to find “no-JavaScript registrars” uses JavaScript too!

Real vintage perverts use COBOL on COGs.

...though they try to load https://secure.comodo.net/trustlogo/javascript/trustlogo.js which fails.

What is even the purpose of this thread?

Is it just about someone's illogical fetish, and people are feeding into it?

  • Also, fun fact: the search engine you used to find “no-JavaScript registrars” uses JavaScript too!

That's why he couldn't find one and had to rely on us doing it for him.

Bro just want register domain with lynx browser on dial-up modem :(

For me, the real problem was mostly javascript-powered web was running on obscure-packed version bundle js rather verbose which can evaluated (which also still nearly hard to see if we see current state of webdev).

  • I believe you can find the physical addresses of these domain registrars online. Hand them cash and ask them to register a domain name for you. :/

If you need at the very least SOMETHING theres https://freedns.afraid.org/ its not a domain registrar, just free subdomains but better than nothing. It's JavaShit-free all the way (hopefully).

Yes I am aware of them, thanks for bringing them up but I am not looking for a sub domain this time.

I share your frustration, not only about registrars, but the web in general... lazy designers would rather use frameworks instead of writing lightweight code, so we end up using a s#$tload of bandwith. Not only that, but also CPU power, because instead of running serverside code, they offload it on the clients! In the last 10-20 years, since I only use my computer for office, the only reason I had to upgrade was because the browsers have become more and more power hungry. After all under the hood they also use a javascript engine.
    That's it, rant over!

Back on topic... https://nic.eu.org have an html only site.

I have been boycotting services and websites that require JavaScript, I suggest you do the same if enough people show to these web developers that such development practices are frowned upon it will bring about change in due time.

  • @raindog308 said:

@Yuki_ said: JavaScript is the future for fools who believe users will tolerate 100mb web pages on and proprietary software being forced down their throat.

I hate to break the news but JavaScript has been a big success and users are quite happy with web sites that use it. Users do indeed tolerate it. Users love it.

I would beg to differ, I find that most people I speak with do not enjoy having to see 5 ads at the same time when trying to read news or have a site unusable because they are not in a well connected area and might only have a few if any mbits up and down.

@Yuki_ said: The majority of sites relying heavily on JavaScript load JavaScript files with non-free licensing and or proprietary source code.

    So what? Really...so what?

You can live a Richard Stallman existence if you want, but you have to accept Richard Stallman limitations then. Do you have a cell phone? Do you connect to wifi in hotels? Do you use AirBNB? Do you use any streaming service for music or video? Any social media network? Do you use ride-sharing services? Shop on Amazon? Using Google or Bing? Give money on GoFundMe or Patreon?

Do you have a cell phone?

I am limiting myself to about an hour a day and my goal is to stop using one, well atleast in the form that you think about when you say cell phone.

Do you connect to wifi in hotels?

No I do not use wifi at all as a matter of fact I only use ethernet.

    Do you use AirBNB?

No I do not go outside or travel much.

Do you use any streaming service for music or video?

No these platforms require JavaScript, I torrent all my shows and keep copies offline. If its a indie producion and they need money to continue or support the show I will contact them and offer to donate but I will not let a streaming platform take a cut of that money.

    Any social media network?

Not any mainstream "normal" ones no. Mostly forums, and image boards and some chat groups on varying chat protocols.

    Do you use ride-sharing services?

    Refer to answer about airbnb.

    Shop on Amazon?

No I mostly transact locally with people I know when needed.

    Using Google or Bing?

No I primarily use brave, duckduckgo or startpage.

Give money on GoFundMe or Patreon?

No and this is really to bad I have contacted a few creators privately and managed to get access to patreon content by paying them directly but most creators are not open to the idea but well then this is something I have to accept.

If you can't say no to all of these, then you are being a bit of a hypocrite. If you can say no to all of these, then congratulations - you're already in your own definition of freedom paradise.

Richard Stallman doesn't whine that he can't register domains. stallman.org is registered via some tucows brand, btw. I bet they use JavaScript.

I might not be there just yet but I am working on the phone situation all the other stuff have been mitigated. RMS did mention in a talk i attended a while back that in cases where he cant find a solution to do something without JavaScript he might have a friend orderd something from amazon for example so most likely he did something similare for hes domain. This to me is not acceptable you can not say no to JavaScript and have someone else use JavaScript on your behalf and continue supporting such practices. As per this thread.

Thanks for the tip this might be a valid option, but it falls short for reasons similar to the proposal of API or phoning the company.

Offtopic, but next question would be. Is there any bank, who does use only HTML, i wanna open an account with them. Backend should be on CSS :D

I can not name any but it would surprise me greatly if there were a lack of them, banks are still in stone ages. But I am morally opposed to their business practices and use mainly crypto currency.

Money somehow should be get into crypto wallet, either it's through your bank account, either in cash through 3rd party service, but then that means that all your salary/money should be in cash, which nowadays is illegal, so...Every year there is mo control and more issues will appear :)

You have missed out entirely that people transact with crypto and some people even get paid in crypto...
