Porkbun Red Alert
If you are using porkbun as your domain provider, please keep reading.
Porkbun has done it again, and their automation once again is haywire.
This time, if your domains are set on automatic renew, and if your associated card gets expired, or you ask them to be de-activated, your account can/will get blocked.
Yup, apparantely, an automatic payment failure (due to card expiry etc), is treated as chargeback by porkbun, and it automatically blocks your porkbun account for any kind of payment.
Block includes any kind of change of payment method, and prevents you from making any payment for anything.
Though they still allow transfer out of domain (which is a good thing).
Here is a reddit thread for it : https://www.reddit.com/r/PorkBun/comments/1hqd9w7/porkbun_account_restricted_and_all_domains/
Anyways, going through support is a round robin loop, and right now am in process of identify verification as directed by their support.
Support Turn around Time is roughly 24 hours, so in case you are short on time for domain renewal, you are in for a treat.
This is second time I had to do this.
First time their automation had issue, it was a fiasco, and oberseth changed porkbun policy.
Here are the old porkbun automation/policy issues:

@eddie_at_porkbun - tagging the provider.
Must be some A.I that just flagged your account.
If you feel they have issues why would you not move out earlier? No shortage of registrars.
In your case what was it?
Most probably the response code is being incorrectly identified for payment failure.
It was change of cards. So, old cards were de-activated and new ones issued.
Never went to update the new cards on file at porkbun.
Lazy, what else, considering they didn't gave me an issue for 2 years, I had couple of not so essential one still there.
They asked me for kyc even before buying so I dropped the idea of buying from them. Now I use either dynadot or spaceship.
Thanks. I had been waiting for several years already to decide whether to move my 30+ domains out of Porkbun. I kept hearing bad things about them but never had I experience it myself, so I was slow on the move. I think evidence is enough now and it's time to act.
Anyone has recommendations on the registrar? Must be ICANN accredited (no resellers) and company not registered in the US.
I have accounts on all major ones.
Never had any issue with following :
I don't like GoDaddy (unfair practises), Cloudflare (NS lock), and now Porkbun (enough headache).
Selfmade problem, when card expires don't forget to change it in provider accounts.
Cloudflare
Right, and please enlighten me how many cards you own, and how many internet providers you use the cards at please?
It's a normal cycle to get card replaced for one reason or another, considering you are not doing it often.
And if payment failure happens, you should always have option to change cards and make the payment.
Thanks, will check out.
6 cards and i don't use any of them for internet stuff.
I have so many things to memorize and my credit card's expiration date is definitely not one of them...
Than you won't have problem when I will say, you don't know what the f*** you are talking about right?
Because, I have my cards associated with ~50 for different requirements online.
Openprovider! And Netim.
Boy is mad, selfmade problem, next time just use your braincells
I bet that no one would expect getting their entire account banned due to expired credit card linked
As mentioned multiple times before - move away. They will never change. No? Then it’s on you.
i don't believe in some internet bla bla without any evidence. Easy to destroy some companies reputation.

You lack the experience.
one failure auto payment leads to whole account banned? sounds a very bad provider
porkban never again.
We only pay Porkbun orders with sliced hog meats.
It’s not kosher but it works.
Billing errors, data breaches... if it isn't there, it can't happen. Sleep more soundly being slightly inconvenienced. Billing errors and data breaches are far more inconvenient.
Iv been using porkbun but i was thinking of transferring my domain to nicenic or back to namecheap
Do NOT move your production domains to some random Hong Kong registrar know for hosting phishing sites.
maybe cloudflare works too since i use cf?
Oof, thank you for letting us know. I will have to rethink my choice of registrars (I am using porkbun BECAUSE there's no kyc nonsense. Getting hit with a sudden KYC demand like OP would be a privacy nightmare to me)
That's good at least, personally I would just transfer out my domains rather than KYC. They don't need KYC because expired credit card, that's just a shameless PII grab.
Edit: I see on reddit another user getting sent to KYC hell on their established account recently. Looks like my days on porkbun are numbered =\
