I think some Azure tech egos were hurt when everyone was like wow AWS hosts the entire internet
They wanted to show they host a big chunk of it as well
The more they go down, the better for us.

I dont think soo! I came to know about it now after opening lowendtalk.... If I had not joined LET few weeks back I guess I would have never heard about it unless some news providers decide to cover it.... but once again by the time I would have read that news, they would have fixed it.
