Residential server is the oxymoron to me
As far as my experience goes, I don't know how, but https://ping0.cc/ always manages to detect residential hosting IPs, but I've seen some false positives too.
https://ipinfo.io is also usually quite good.
There are two Horsemen of the Apocalypse: GeoIP and Residential/Business/Hosting classification
push-up sensei, is that....is that you?
Who is using IPv4?
I use IPv6!
This is the best for testing: https://www.ipqualityscore.com/free-ip-lookup-proxy-vpn-test/lookup/
I've had many times where ipinfo.io reports residential IP, but it's actually a datacenter IP.
I tested my IPs on Ping0, and they all appear as residential (home broadband) IPs. All my US IPs show the same. I think it might be because my ARIN organization and ASN are relatively new.
I usually just check the ASN of the IP
If its residential, its out of budget, simple.
The IP Score is really bad, my home IP got 92 and PROXY label!
I run VPN here just for personal use
I've used that one for several years now, does bulk checks to really well.
What about this?
https://www.abuseipdb.com
That is kinda good!
Actually it is a better metric than Residential/DC division
But they are protected MiTM'd by Cloudflare, so in order to use their data in bulk you have to pay them a lot of $$$
Also, for IPv6 they are counting with INDIVIDUAL ADDRESSES, not /64 ranges
Residential IPs? Are these where people use a mysterious box so they can host North Korean traffic for couple bucks or what AI companies or individuals use to scrape the entire internet?
My home IP is also considered a proxy lmao
Other site is unsure if I am business or DSL/Eyeball (I removed my home ISP ASN and its' name on purpose)
U got lucky

Then I check a few residential VMs I have and got 0
Sounds like NAT IP with a lot of infected devices
Russia? Fiber optic?
Nah, it's my own home IP
no NAT
Only thing they might be flagging is Tor relay, but 100 score for that? kinda bullshit
Sir you computah has virus!
You can use https://www.ip2location.com
Remember to compare both the ISP usage type and ASN usage type to see if it is real residential.
ip2location.com
It's better than ipinfo and others.
😔

ipx.ac
I know a good website to check
https://ping0.ipyard.com/
Don’t be angry, just a joke
Most of the IP lookup sites have a limit, so doing more than a few daily requests costs $$$. Some (better ones) are useful to get an approximate location info though (and only that is why I occasionally use them).
If I really need to know whether some IP is a "normal" residential IP I tend to check via traceroute, based in particular on the fact that (a) some (usually plastic and weak) home router/modem pretty much always is the public IP end point, and (b) that usually the last hop to a residential IP is slow (as in time diff last hop - last-1) while pretty much anything in a DC is not.
That in addition to the usual means seems to work quite well.
just get the fuck off my internet
Your home IP is most likely dynamic meaning it changes every week or month depending on your ISP. Therefore the score could have been affected by a previous user on the IP, unless of course you have a static IP address. Which is usually a paid option with most ISPs and many don’t even offer it.
Take a look at everyone's residential IP detection methods
