Max, you are partially correct.
And I suggest to avoid giving feedback on how to better disguise AI generated crap as it is human created content. Such things shouldn't be supported and encouraged. If you cheat - you fail. Nothing will replace honest human review about service.
I didn't give much feedback about how to better disguise AI generated crap. If they really wanted to go full boar then yes they should do validation... but if we realize how much validation that needs to happen... well you might have just had a human do it and write it. I said it was too late and the community was not in mind when they launched this garbage (just have to read a little deeper and think about the bigger picture).
Also for what it is worth. I'm very anti AI. I have bias and as much as I can be constructive about it...(and I made a solid attempt at trying) if it's shit... I'm gonna call it shit, and then I'm gonna call out the lack of engagement, and yes it will drive traffic, yes it will probably drive sales, AI or humans it doesn't matter it's traffic. But saying it is with the community in mind is disingenuous at best.
This is the first time I've seen this since my time here and I've browsed this place before making an account back in 2024. I do browse here daily.
You're right. Nothing will be fixed, just masked.
I disagree. This place has taught me to evade such shit hosts and has helped me secure infrastructure that I used in production, with lessons learned and at least unlike the majority of the spamming posts (sorry HostDZire lovers), I'm capable of writing a few more than a few words and forming paragraphs among other users. So I'm not just here for traffic.
So we are both correct in our own ways and with our own biases and opinions
that's the best part about being human.
Heh, lowendbox and lowendtalk is 2 different things. Talk is this forum.
LET and LEB may try and serve two different purposes but one could argue LET is traffic as well. Then we've gone full circle.
🤷♀️
I don't think a 180 will happen and the site will be unlaunched... Despite how many users and hosts pointing out how inaccurate and shit it is. As much as I hope.
I tend to disagree on this one. The future belongs to AI, and its crap. You will get so much AI crap on advertising, so much AI crap on SEO, so much crap on your feed from social networking. This is the future: crap, because people love stupid stuff and don't have time to validate it. It is so much easier and so much faster for AI to generate crap, than it is for a human to read that crap and filter it with their mind and then validate it or not - by the time a human finishes reading, a single AI generated 10 more contents. This is the future mate, and I don't blame anyone using it because it is such a powerful tool.
In the end, we are what we are.
Off topic but today at my real job, were seeing double the budget for AI... Whilst cutting software people actually use and cutting jobs and opportunities.
Dystopian nightmare.
Looks like a sellout site to gain more revenue promoting shit providers
From our experience, 95% of the reviews written by real customers are negative. People are lazy and do not want to waste their time, so they only write about problems on the provider's or customer's side. Positive reviews are written in two cases:
This is the real situation in the entire online industry. Therefore, my personal trust in positive reviews is zero, and I only check negative reviews. It doesn't matter how positive the review is written - by an AI or a human. In 95%, it has nothing to do with reality.
The same goes for ratings. Just check Lowendtalk - many providers had a very high "rating" but this does not prevent they go out from business.
Can i also have some fake reviews ?
Kinda unfair that some providers have hundreds of fake reviews with 5 stars, but other have 0.
At least give fake reviews to everyone or to nobody.
I wonder how Hetzner will feel with 250 fake reviews giving them randomly a 3 stars rating.
I bet they don't care about yet another "review" website
We are working hard this week to make the aggregation review content better. This is why we haven't mass released the site yet (emails, paid advertising media, etc). The current iteration had good intentions but missed the mark.
There's a huge back log of reviews not yet assigned to providers which we've stopped manually assigning to give time to rework the system for a better and more polished result.
Ultimately where we're going to end up is alot less reviews on launch day but that's OK. We're going to spend a few more days on it and will likely be ready for mass market launch next week.
We are also working to encoporate many of the suggestions made in this thread, just like we did the past few weeks with from our providers here on LowEndTalk.
In doing so make sure you review https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2024/08/federal-trade-commission-announces-final-rule-banning-fake-reviews-testimonials and consult a lawyer where the limits are with "aggregation"
Hetzner looking at the reviews and laughing at the same time that LET is fully recommended for its prices, providers reselling their services but have had bad reviews since 2023, but your project launches next week in September 2025.
Would it be good to have recent reviews and opinions so you don't have a new website but with old, incorrect content?
254 Fake Reviews
How about just not scraping and anonymizing?
Did they also scrape LowEndSpirit?
Hey
Intentions were good
So back off
If the reviews are inauthentic, they should be excluded so that they don't mislead others.
Prove reviews are inauthentic
AFAIK llms helpd write those. So they are as genuine as they can be
We are working with top priority to improve the review system. Should have an update shortly.
We have top men working on it now.
LMFTFY
@jbiloh do you work topless sometimes?
Am I correct in my understanding that the "Average Benchmark Score" of a provider is just the mean bench score of all reported? So if a super low end machine with a score of 2, and a super high end machine with a score of 100 were submitted the provider bench avg would be 51?
Also - I noticed in testing some very high core dual CPU machines that geekbench seems to not handle that well - thoughts?
Geekbench 6 is very bad at any multicore scoring (by design), it cant produce any real benchmarking with more than 6-8 cores, so for 32-128 core systems it just makes no sense to score it with multicore score
I see. I like the idea of being able to provide benches for many different platforms in a central location. Just kind of curious how to handle some of the newer/higher end stuff.
Wait.., we are human?!?!?
Let us review the reviews!
I like to think I'm human.
Unless I'm really a character from Persona 3...
Thats what vibe coding and @jbiloh wanted to accomplish
Release something cwrappy (as a soft launch, whatever that means) and getting feedback and volunteers to identify and fix flaws
No way it takes over a year to come up with something like this... sure it may be in the works in the minds for over a year but this certainly feels spit out in less than a week.
Shows how serious someone is to launch a third avenue to drive nothing but traffic 🙄
i assume soft launch since it came up in the cryptopus thread
