    This here:

Spaceship is an ICANN-accredited domain registration and web services platform founded by CEO Richard Kirkendall.

might sound as if those are separate entities with same CEO. Maybe there is some hope.

    But then you get:

Unbox and Spaceship are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Namecheap, Inc.

(same press release) and the hope diminishes again...

And e.g. crunchbase doesn't talk about founding Spaceship, but only about founding Namecheap... (at the CEO info page at crunchbase)

    Ou, there is! So called “ultra premium” providers. Enom.com , one.com , name.com , cscdbs.com

    LOL

eNom data center migration mistakenly knocks sites offline

Domain Transfer, WHOIS Privacy, DNSSEC, and the Absence of Push-ups
Subtitle: one.com forcefully changes nameserver and doesn’t support DNSSEC

  • So it's going to be more like NameCostly, Inc. FFS openprovider might see a jump in members if this is going to be true as per webpros's yearly price increases.

  • Good alternative for namecheap?

As if openprovider is cheap, I had to move my .cc domain elsewhere because they wanted something like $25 for renewal of it.

    Dynadot seems okay so far.

Well, they are the only white-label, reseller-friendly, and at-cost (with membership) domain registrar I found, as for your $25 cc renewal, I don't think I have the entire picture in mind to comment on it. I could be entirely wrong but my experience with them is still far better than namecheap, namesilo, and porkbun.

  • Time for NameCrane to shine!

  • Registration, Namecheap Address.
    Owner Namecheap Source.

    Registration, Namecheap Trademark
    Owner Namecheap Source

I could still be wrong, but I am in the firm belief that Spaceship is not a separate legal entity from Namecheap. I think it will be included in this deal unless stated otherwise.

  • I'll join the pork cult if spaceship included in the deal and they decided its dirt cheap pricing days are numbered. Dyna seems ok too, just panel abit confusing with menu all over the place.

  • This is horrifyingly terrible news.. the people who bought it have been slowly price gouging cPanel users for years now. I guess it's time to move all my other domains to porkbun.

  • For reselling there is nothing better than opensrs / tucows

Have a plan. What if pork will sell out? Than what?

  • If @Calin scammed harder he could have bought it.

Makes me wonder who the wealthiest LET member, (not counting Jean Bilou) is.

Russians don't have money, literally sanctioned hobos.

  • Time to move to Gandi and support European company!

not that it matters at their scale, but this is honestly just what @Francisco could dream of business wise, namecheap/spaceship probably most used registrar on LET, if CVC proceeds with enshittification which I think is a given... people now have a reason to move

We really appreciate the support, but the only domains we've registered so far are test domains on OTE's.

    We're working on it :)

I think you’ll get there by the time of the enshittification to be honest, I doubt it’s coming right away

If you like heavily inflated prices and any domain under the sun you might as well go to Marcaria.

Yes, just moved from namecheap to porkbun. Took 25 minutes and domain was transferred. Renew is half price of namecheap wtf, cheap.

    Why?

  • Ok, I never read X but had to read the thread at xcancel today.

So it's both Namecheap and Spaceship, as RK confirmed.

Just cloudflare and be done with that

They easily terminate accounts for politics, so only for non-critical domains.

imho name-com the option now, then dyna, then pork, then silo, then internetbs, then GD

    Does Cloudflare really do that?

I mean, they literally have some of the worst sites on the internet using Cloudflare protection so I can't see them tossing people to the curb because their domain is used for wrong think or anything.
