[FOSSVPS - OnlyServers] Free London VPS with a pretty good network!

Not_OlesNot_Oles Member, Patron Provider

Hello!

Thanks to @dan_onlyservers' kind server donation, <3, @netixen, and @babywhale of BashVM fame, FOSSVPS is giving away six Debian 12 London IPv4/IPv6 VPSes. These VPSes share a pretty good, unmetered network. The time period is until October 25, 2025, and might be renewed.

Please check the below Yabs and NWS test results for the specs. Please note that each VPS offered here has one dedicated IPv4 address and also an IPv6/80. We expect that there soon might be a second round of NAT IPv4 VPSes on this server.

To apply for a free VPS, please post in this thread. This giveaway will be open for a day or two at least. In your post, please explain what you want to run on your VPS and why FOSSVPS should select you as a recipient of a free VPS.

Free and open source software only.
White hat only.
Not for commercial use.
No service level agreement.
Ephemeral. Could disappear at any time!
Clueless™ Administrator!

  • Hi there,

I’m looking to get a VPS to run a few containerized apps (using Docker) along with some monitoring tools for my personal projects. Nothing too heavy — just need a stable and reliable environment to keep things running smoothly.

  • Hey.
I'd like to use this VPS to host the following stuff:
    1) Globalping probe
    2) ntppool project
    3) uptime kuma
    4) qbittorrent with gluetun
All of them are pretty open source.
Nothing prod but basically a playground for my stuff.
    Thank you.

  • Hi mr.oles,
I would like to use the VPS as a learning platform and a sandbox for various free and open-source software projects. I'm a student and am keen to expand my knowledge of system administration and networking in a practical, hands-on environment.

  • Hi,

I would like to apply for a free VPS for my personal use.
I will run my personal monitoring maybe a smokeping.

  • I am developing a personal open-source project called MusicTagCleaner, which helps users automatically clean and standardize metadata tags (artist, title, album) in large music libraries. The backend is built with FastAPI and SQLite, and I need a VPS to deploy and test the API service in a real environment.

The VPS will be used to:
    • Run the REST API for file processing and tag extraction
    • Test batch operations and API performance
    • Provide public access for collaborators to test the tool

    Hi,

I'm learning to use AI tools and static site generators like Hugo to build simple websites for local micro businesses that lack access to tech or funds. It’s a non-commercial, learning-focused project — I don’t charge anything and hope to improve my skills while helping others.

A VPS would be a huge help for testing deployments and real-world hosting. Thanks for the opportunity!

    Hi @aseenm!

Just for fun, let's change places. Let's imagine that you are me and I am you. I, as you, said, "I want to run a few containerized apps . . . along with monitoring tools for my personal projects."

If you were tasked with deciding who gets a VPS, would you want a few more details about the apps, the tools, and the projects?

The more work you invest in your VPS request, the more likely will be your success!

    Best wishes and kindest regards,

    Tom

Hello, I am currently studying and need a VPS to work on some interesting open-source projects. Can you provide a free VPS for use? Thank you.

    Hi @zdyfj228!

    What projects interest you?

What have you done so far, before now?

    Thanks for your request!

    Best wishes!

I am developing a personal open-source project called MusicTagCleaner, which helps users automatically clean and standardize metadata tags (artist, title, album) in large music libraries. The backend is built with FastAPI and SQLite, and I need a VPS to deploy and test the API service in a real environment.

The VPS will be used to:
    • Run the REST API for file processing and tag extraction
    • Test batch operations and API performance
    • Provide public access for collaborators to test the tool

    Do you mean https://github.com/lcintron/Music-Tag-Cleaner ?

    Thanks!

Hi @deka! May I please ask what AI tools you used to write your request? Thanks! Tom

  • Thank you for your kindly offer. I have done all the settings.
It's pretty good for setting up a personal VPN. I just watch some videos in iPlayer webpage and I found it's smooth and fast. So I think it's not necessary to run a yabs test or something else. Thank you @dan_onlyservers @Not_Oles @jbiloh

    Progress:

We now have an additional six NAT IPv4 / IPv6 VPSes available to give away.

So, if you want one, please let us know. From now on requests should specify which type of VPS is being requested: dedicated IPv4 or NAT IPv4.

The more effort you invest in reading this thread and in writing your request, the more likely it is to be successful. <3

Thanks to @babywhale from BashVM for coming aboard and making these VPSes for us! <3

Thanks to @dan_onlyservers for the kind server donation! <3 Thanks to @netixen for facilitating the donation! <3

Thanks to FOSSVPS' wonderful users! <3 Thanks to LET! <3
