An email just one day before going down for multiple days is really bad, that's not enough time for people to free up the hours required to find a suitable alternative and move things across. People have jobs, children, and other things happening. If the non-slab servers were moved a week before, they could have easily given 1 week notice. I will have to consider if it''s worth staying with this company.
You won't hear an argument outta me on that one.
Once things are sorted you can ticket for some SLA if that helps.
Francisco
The same situation happened to me, only I received a notification via email and 24 hours later the VPS was down.
Two days ago, I chose to pay more to rent a new VPS while waiting for the old VPS to come back online because I didn't want to lose clients.
I am just super sad that BuyVM is coming to this end, but did not expect anything else since the sale to Cloudzy.
I am on holiday, could not even made a snapshot and the last one is one year old, yeah blame me, but I trusted Fran.
I'm not sure how the sale had much to do with this? If I was still the owner there's a good chance it would've gone far worse on the physical side given I was unable to travel until about 2 weeks ago.
If there wasn't the mix up of which nodes to leave in CH, this would've been resolved this past weekend. Yes, it sucks, but we'll be through this soon enough with all the positives.
Francisco
are they moving to CH or NL at the end?
CH. A handful of nodes got sent to NL by accident instead of taken to CH with the slabs.
On the plus side we're close to getting them online in NL so we can start pulling over.
Francisco
what a dumb mistake
you would not do that for sure, Im sure.
dump people what else to say.
Is it safe to assume that the ETA'll slip further from the 1-2 days indicated on Monday? I have a feeling it won't happen this evening, given it's fairly late into the evening in Central European time.
In which case, I'll preemptively give it up for day 5!

my slab is back online

downtime 117 hours and 56 minutes
What cluster node is your slab on, if I may ask?
CLUSTER-08
Ah, mine's on another. Both the KVM and slab cluster of my main VPS are still offline, I got the double down special
>
There's a tech onsite working on the last few slab nodes.
I'm also pushing as fast as I can on data migrations from NL. I'm likely to just stay up for most of the night and just get things pushing.
Francisco
Same same
Same... vps and slab cluster 07&09 still offline
Pm me your ip and I’ll see where in the queue you are.
Francisco
My server (non slab ) has been down for more than four days without any storage blocks, but it is still unusable. There was no email notification before the migration, and it is still unusable even now. I want to know how long it will take for my VPS to recover. (non slab)
Can you PM me your IP? We're down to the last couple of nodes to pull over the wire. Slabs are all sorted as of a few hours ago. The DAC's we used in LUX didn't come along to CH so we did things i'm not proud of to get tings working for now.
Francisco
Hello, I have sent you a private message.
My VPS is back online just now. Although the wait was very long, I am still very grateful for your patience in restoring it. I will continue to use my VPS and hope it can always remain in good condition.
Do i win a prize for being on last node to be online?
Depends, mine is still offline too, on KVM-63.
63 will start moving shortly
I only have so much bandwidth in NL to pull with. We are compressing everything over the wire just to speed things along.
Francisco
Oh! I'm on 62 .. maybe it will start working again soon!
(several hours later) ... YES! My machine has returned, now in CH (apparently). It is on a 7950X3D machine. I think routing is a work in progress, but it's back with the two slabs attached correctly as before the move.
Only 1 more node to pull from NL and it’ll be done in the next hour or so.
Next project is to cut to the juniper and get HE going.
Francisco
Me too. It's been offline for almost a week. @Francisco Could you please let me know if you make any progress? I'm not sure if you saw the Discord message.
Should be all sorted.
Francisco
Still offline KVM-43
