I actually found one, but I have to agree there is no other with this latest hardware for that price
While I personally am not interested in this (-> title) product, I'm, not sure whether amazed or shocked by quite some comments and demands resp. expectations here. It's almost as if the not-newest e.g. Epyc with a, say 40 MB/s and 10 k IOps NVMe is but worthless crap.
I've seen and benchmarked quite many VMs from the really low end up to the really high-end, from the dirt cheap about $10/yr up to the not so cheap Ryzens and think I know a thing or two about both VMs and the market.
And I'm still convinced that most about $20/year VPSs here are more than good enough to run the typical dynamic website 90+% of users actually run. And I'm also still convinced that the netcup root servers aka VDS ( about their VPS I can't make a statement because I never had one) offer an outstanding bang per buck ratio and, in fact, are overkill for most "normal" use cases.
And I think that some users here should think, and should think hard, about whether they are at the right place here on LET, or in other words, whether their priority is cheap or high-end gear and performance. Certainly both are reasonable and justifiable perspectives, but here on LET the focus obviously is on cheap - and that is what netcup products are for what they offer. They are cheap.
In my defence, I use my Netcup server for Jellyfin which every once in a while requires transcoded stream. Mostly it does direct play but when client doesnt support the codecs and other media wizardary, it falls to transcoding which puts load on CPU for prolonged period. This can be 30minutes to a binge watch session of 3-4 hours(or more) of full CPU usage. During this period, the performance MUST deliver and uninterrupted stream as CPU processes the transcoding. Most of the time, it sits idle.
I prefer Netcup because their RS servers have less noisy neighbors and low CPU steal. This was my experience up until I got this RS 1000 Ultra plan. That said, its not that big of a loss either. I cancelled my cancellation for OG RS 1000 that I got from one of their deals(8G4C500GB) which runs a modest of 1.6k Single core and 5.9-6k multi, consistently every time I do yabs.
However, I agree with your point about me expecting high end performance from a "low end" price. But counter point, when providers like @labze raise the bar of what "low end" budget can get you in terms of performance with their TURIN lineup, I can't help but feel entitled
Another reason why I stick with Netcup VPS is their affiliate program is quite generous. Sure, I do not get paid but affiliate revenue is applied to my monthly invoice which gives me incentive to stay with them.
Funny part is, many others disabled it by a ticket.
so if someone compromises your account, they just request TFA to be disabled via ticket by claiming phone damaged and can log in? as @Mumbly said, great protection by TFA for you with that then.
is it out of stock?
I dislike netcup for two reasons.
I find their panel a bit complex and mystery meat. It took a lot of time to get used to it.
Contracts..... I do not understand this concept. My RS1000 is expiring in 2 days but a new invoice has just come. If I want to leave that VPS, then should I pay for that invoice (because I have already used the benefits for that amount) or is it for next cycle (which will be a waste if I am leaving that VPS).
Too complicated for my simple brain.
that is okay, but then you should not use them, that is simple enough I guess.
It's the same as me not understanding how atom fusion works and therefore not running a reactor even if that could be cheaper than buying power all the time ;-)
btw. on each invoice there is an exact date given for each line item and the time the amount is for, maybe you want to actually read the invoice next time? ;-)
The most recent posts on labze's page doesn't spark much confidence to me either tbh.
VPS is good but support and it system are really bad
Wonder what you are referring to.
I just clicked on your profile link, that was all
Ah, well yeah doesn't look good without context

Not straight, but namecheap support asked my billing details, payment date, payment mode, id proof and card number. (Though they didnt asked for cvv).
Huh, so it's also not just a ticket but quite some effort. Maybe even more then entering something send to you via snail mail.
Right now it was only the wait time which the letter more inconvenient to you versus havin to jump through hoops for an extended KYC 😄😄
If in Germany you would have received that postal letter the next day. So this version does not have to be considered bad in general. Right?
Absolutely, infact i never thought they would do this. it was a surprise.
