    Dear Not_Oles,

I am applying for a VPS to host a small personal website that will monitor the operational status of my other VPS servers. This setup is strictly for personal use and does not involve any commercial activity or public access.

Earlier today, my current monitoring site experienced a crash, which has impacted my ability to keep track of my servers in real time. To prevent this from happening again and improve reliability, I am setting up a dedicated VPS to run lightweight monitoring tools such as Uptime Kuma or Netdata. These tools will help me ensure my other VPS instances are running smoothly.

Please let me know if any further information is needed.

At the same time, I’m also worried that you might consider my account too new.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Best regards,
    Musk.

    Hi @kkwwll!

Sorry to hear that your monitoring site crashed! I will send you a PM with login information. Hope you can get it back up or get a replacement up soon!

Yes, you have a relatively new account! Thanks for flagging that issue.

Please post here in this thread to let us know that you got in okay (I hope you do!). Also please post here to let us know about your monitoring progress. Good luck! Have fun! Don't forget that this is a short term offer.

    Best wishes!

    Tom

Thanks,I've received your information,I'll try it later.also I'll reply my monitoring progress later because I want try another monitoring progress i think.

Hi @kkwwll! I see that you're VPS is working. Could you please let us know what you are running at 100% CPU? Thanks!

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND

Hi again @kkwwll! I am going to pre-emptively shut down your VPS until we get a chance to talk. Sorry for the inconvenience. Best wishes!

I was quite surprised to hear this news. As you may be aware, one of my previous VPS instances recently crashed, so upon receiving your message, I decided to run a few test scripts on this VPS to evaluate its stability.

I’m not sure if this may have triggered the issue you observed, but I will share the scripts I executed for your reference and investigation.

After testing, I found this to be a very solid and reliable machine. I sincerely appreciate your provision of such a quality server.

Below are the scripts I ran:

Thanks for the information you posted. I am unaware of any problems specifically associated with any of the scripts you mentioned.

What I was seeing on the Node, though, was a processor running at 100% for an hour, and that processor was being used by your VPS.

Do any of those scripts typically run longer than one hour?

I think, when there is an issue, something should be done, because, if a second issue occurs, then the two issues together might be a disaster. That's why I "pre-emptively" stopped your VPS.

I don't see running a processor at 100% for a little while as an issue worth mentioning. But people who want to do something like compile for several hours ought to post here so we know what's happening. Same with high network or high file I/O.

I restarted your VPS. CPU usage seems minimal. But, when you get back in, and if you rerun the test scripts, please check to make sure there is no "stuck" process causing continuous high CPU output. That's happened to me.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience! Good luck!

    Best wishes!

I really do not know how many users are Chinese. LET is an English language forum, but there are people here at LET from all over the world. On our server, we do have a few users who came from another forum in which Chinese is spoken. But that doesn't necessarily mean they are Chinese. Chinese is spoken in many countries. And some people, like me, are there without even speaking Chinese. I use Google Translate.

    Hi Ethan!

    Nice to meet you!

Unfortunately all the VPSes on our server here are already assigned. Maybe something might become available again soon, so please keep watching this thread. Alternatively, maybe we could do something on a different server before too long.

Are you the owner of the Github repository to which you linked? I looked quickly at the project, and, at first glance, it seems pretty cool to me. I think other guys here might want to take a look as well.

    Hi @Fubukibox!

I'm unsure of exactly . . . exactly how to enable VNC in our setup. I tried to enable VNC for your VPS in BashVM (8 on the Main Menu, 1 on the VNC / Console Access Menu, plus probably restart the VPS). That didn't seem to work. Maybe because I did not get told to restart and because the XML file wasn't changed. It looks like I could edit your VPS' XML configuration file by hand, but I'm unsure that's the best way.

@babywhale and I talked about VNC access, and we decided to not to enable VNC access on all VPSes. I'm not sure how @babywhale did that.

@babywhale Ideas on how to help @Fubukibox, please?

@Fubukibox, is there another way we could get you back in to your VPS besides VNC?

Thanks! Sorry I can't help more right now!

Im fine with the vps being reset with the same ed25519 public key i sent in DMS, i will just change /etc/ssh/sshd_config since i already have a backup somewhere. i just need to redo hetrixtools and install wireguard just in case and also reinstall docker again

No, im just saying to reset the entire VPS from scratch but use the same ed25519 key for the root login as before. I don't have access to my server atm but i do have both my pub and private key on my pc

Okay, I restored your VPS from an original, clean snapshot.

I added your ssh key and also my ssh key to both root and user authorized keys.

I can get in from here via ssh as both root and as user.

The passwords and the IP address are unchanged since it is a restored snapshot.

Please see if you can get in. Maybe change the passwords and the ssh host keys and also delete my key? Maybe double check sshd_config to make sure everything is the way you like it to be.

Please let me know if everything is okay for you now or if you need anything else.

    Thanks!

Please see if you can get in. Maybe change the passwords and the ssh host keys and also delete my key? Maybe double check sshd_config to make sure everything is the way you like it to be.

Please let me know if everything is okay for you now or if you need anything else.

    Thanks!

    Tom

I can access the VPS now. Thank you! i will check what is missing on my vps

    Tom

instead of restarting it you will need to stop then start the vm for vnc to be enabled... something i should add for clarification in the program

    Best wishes!

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

It's an honor to receive a personal reply from you. Yes, I am indeed the owner of PublicFreeSuffix, and I'm dedicated to making this project more stable and viable. I genuinely believe it holds immense value for many who are just starting out with building websites or delving into web technologies—much like my younger self when I was a middle school student hoping for a service like this to further explore network technology.

Unfortunately, I'm a bit late to the party, haha! I wish myself luck in eventually finding a server somewhere to expand the DNS services for this project.

    Thank U so much~!

    What specifications do you need?

Maybe someone in your project qualifies for FreeVPS.org?

    Thanks!

Once again, thank you very much for your support.

You are very much welcome! All seems good now!

    Dear Not_Oles,

I have set up a monitoring website on my VPS. The URL is: https://test.meta.xx.kg.
This is a project I discovered not long ago, and I will be testing it in the coming days.

I am truly grateful for your continued support.

    @kkwwll

Thanks for showing all of us your progress on your VPS. I am glad to see it!

On my local Chromebook I went to the link you posted, https://test.meta.xx.kg/. I looked at the source code in Chrome, view-source:https://test.meta.xx.kg/. In line 11 of the displayed source code, it mentions Akizon77.

    Then I found https://github.com/Akizon77 and https://github.com/Akizon77/komari/blob/master/public/index.html.

But, if I am not mistaken, there seem to be slight differences between what is displayed on test.meta.xx.kg and what would be expected to be displayed based solely on the index.html file shown at https://github.com/Akizon77/komari/blob/master/public/index.html.

As a specific but perhaps insignificant example, the Github index.html file doesn't show

    Powered by Komari Monitor.
    Build Time: 2025/07/15 17:55:41 (GMT+8)
    0.1.6-fix1 (de5db97)

If you don't mind, I have two questions:

Good luck with your project! I hope you continue to enjoy your VPS!

    Thank you!

Are there still servers available ?

  • Not_OlesNot_Oles Member, Patron Provider

@d2411 Not at the present time, sorry! Maybe something will become available due to inactivity, or for some other reason. Haha, maybe some excellent Provider will give me another dedicated server. We will see. . . .

  • I am Gerry. I'd love a free VPS. I'll run a Mumble server on it; light duty for Amateur Radio use.
