Maybe OP is doing PhD research on privacy

I am curious to know what phone the OP is using. Both Android, iOS or any other systems log all activities, so in this instance, it is unnecessary to overly concern about privacy.

Bold of you to assume I utilize a phone.

Saying that AOSP or IOS or "any other system" logs all activity is just wrong in so many respects I barley know how to respond so I will instead ask you to clarify how modifiable and mutable systems can be assumed to log "everything" even when you compiled your own Android ROM to disable all logging, or jail-broken your iPhone to do the equivalent or have external systems like firewalls to block any and all telemetry endpoints whitelisting only necessary services, as for the all other systems part... maybe you have not heard about Linux?

and your saying that just because someone is monitored that someone should not be concerned by that fact? in other words your logic is as such that if a bear rushes toward someone that someone should not be concerned about it and go inside the house since its already rushing toward you? being concerned about a bear is something you only do when sitting safe at home? just because the threat is not immediately clear people like you seem to completely disregard privacy and security only thinking about it when its to late.

Same with a lot of there server providers here few care about client communication security until they have been breached and the clear text chat logs are being used to further the attack, even then many will just stick their head in the sand.

Just because the VPS is low end does not mean the service provided has to be. Well that was my thought process is there an awesome forum with a community like this for high end?

Sometimes I wonder what these people host or if its just paranoia or best practices thing

Why would you wonder about what I host any more then the other guy? is looking to exercise my human right to privacy really such a forging concept to make you curious? I encourage you to try it.

Well its not to hard to see where your coming from in this dystopia we live in where people have been boiled like the frog thus having come to accept complete and total, obligatory surveillance "for your own security".

The bird who lived all its life in a cage thinks that the bird flying outside the window is the weird one. After all the cage is protecting the bird.

Must be something illegal, im sure of it now. I can almost smell it.

Try reading 1984 by George Orwell maybe reading about extremes can persuade you better then I, maybe you can see why the right to privacy is adopted by the UN general council... and not in fact as you seemingly have been brainwashed to think something illegal and only used for criminal purposes.

Not to further derail your topic, but some governments outlawed "strong cryptography" or VPN services (I consider both to be privacy-related), so technically it actually can be considered as something illegal depending on jurisdiction

Your phone has secret chips that do stuff you dont even imagine. Changing the rom does nothing.

You can constrapulate due to the mention of IOS and Android that he in fact was speaking about the OS and not the hardware.
