Hello, my name is Alex, I am in Shanghai, China, I would like to have a VPS for remote testing, hope to get your support!
Yes, you can.
All right. Thanks for your request. Will do tomorrow morning. Will send you a PM with login information. Sleep now for me. Zzzz! Sorry for the delay. . . .
Why not try OpenList instead of AList?
Hi @Not_Oles,
Want this to use as VPN Server personally.
Hello, my name is Jerry npc, I am in Shanghai, China, I would like to have a VPS for remote testing, hope to get your support.
Hello @Not_Oles and the LET community,
Thank you for this generous offer. I would like to apply for one of the VPS slots.
My name is skizoid. I plan to use this VPS to set up a private, non-commercial VPN server for my personal use. The main goal is to secure my internet traffic on my personal devices, especially when connected to public Wi-Fi.
It works! (with only 300-110MB to spare lol) (allocated 1.5GB)
for IP it's a bit weird, on my phone (and my pc & my router) it shows up as Hong Kong
YT/Google says United Kingdom
browserleaks says it's in Denver, Colorado
meanwhile vps is in LA (decent ping of 35-36ms from SFBA)
I think the IP block was Recycled or Anycasted but it doesn't bother me that much. Still interesting to see
Yes, some IP addresses have this problem, and we can't do anything about it.
Hi, I plan to use this VPS to set up a private vpn and learning yii2 and laravel.
Thanks
Hi,
I would use the VPS to set up an NTP server to contribute to the NTP Pool project. I found that a personal instance with just one core and 1GB memory was getting overwhelmed by 6Mbit/s peak traffic in the US zone.
Also, I would run a RIPE Atlas probe to support Internet traffic research.
A third application would be non-public head-less screen-snapping in support of monitoring the NTP server function.
I also would like to run a Snowflake proxy for the Tor project.
Apart from those specific tasks, I would use the resources for any day-to-day tasks and projects that require a host exposed to the Internet, e.g., test new versions of NTP software and proposed patches. E.g., I would be curious to get rs-ntpd with its NTPv5 capability up and running and use it for testing and experimenting (my current nodes are either multi-homed, or get their time from a local reference clock, neither of which is currently supported by rs-ntpd).
Hello there @Not_Oles
Nice to see people doing things like this
I am nameserver and I would like to use the VPS (if possible) to host my website nameserver.sbs
Just to learn some frontend (it's current html laggy and I am thinking of moving to nextjs)
Have a sweet dream. cheerio.
Hi Not_oles. I am Kerry and I'd like to use it as private vpn server for short. I also hope this project could last long as 2c2g is really not bad for me to host a code sever and my blog. Thanks!
Good morning, server assigned. PM sent. Please post here to let us know how you are doing! Thanks!
I will be interested to hear your reply to the question about OpenList and AList that @fmxm asked you at https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4472522/#Comment_4472522. Thanks again!
Hi @mikrocybercloud!
Welcome to the server! I sent you a PM with login details.
Please post here if you need any help. Please also post a progress report so we know how you are doing! Best wishes! Have fun!
Hi @jerrynpc!
Sorry for you -- I have to say that all the VPSes are assigned.
Maybe one or more will become available due to inactivity or some other reason? If that happens, please do ask again!
Best wishes and kindest regards,
Tom
Hi @skizoid!
I love your nic!
I wish I could give you a VPS . . . but, sadly, they all are assigned. Please keep watching this thread, though, because one or more might become available again.
Best wishes and kindest regards,
Tom
@Fubukibox
Thanks for posting your progress report at https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4472571/#Comment_4472571
I am so glad you got things going on your VPS!
Best wishes and kindest regards,
Tom
Thanks for kindly offering the server donation!
Thanks for your helpful comments!
Thanks @nyamenk @Starnberg @nameserver @letstayfree!
Looks like all the VPSes are assigned. But maybe one or more will become available. So, please keep watching this thread. I would be delighted to have all of you with us, but, unfortunately, there are not enough VPSes. . . .
If another provider gives me another server, maybe I can scale this up a bit.
Best wishes and kindest regards!
Tom
Hi @kkwwll! I see that you're VPS is working. Could you please let us know what you are running at 100% CPU? Thanks!
Hi @alex100yi!
Thanks for your request! I am sorry that all the VPSes have been assigned. However, one or more might become available again. So, please follow this thread, and please feel free to ask again if another VPS becomes available.
Could I please suggest that "remote testing" could be more specific? If I had a VPS to give you, I would want to know more specifically what you wanted to run.
Best wishes!
Tom
On one of the VPSes, I am trying Apache, PHP, MariaDB, and FOSSBilling. All of these are installed, but I need to understand more about and to do more with the configuration before all this can be expected to work. Now you guys have a progress report from me.
Thanks to @fmxm for enabling my little project through his kind server donation.
Hi again @kkwwll! I am going to pre-emptively shut down your VPS until we get a chance to talk. Sorry for the inconvenience. Best wishes!
I'm sorry this is happening @Not_Oles, despite your best attempts to filter bad apples out.
Maybe if you had asked for ID + student card verification + birth certificate + fingerprint scan you could have filtered them out more effectively. Hope this doesn't happen again.
suddenly flying commercial feels like using Tor
I believe @Not_Oles said he will choose members of community that has good history and posts that help each other. You think he chose wrong people? Of course not.
I requested to change the student ID verification to allocating VPS to active users on the forum. I had previously tried asking them for student IDs, but all I received in return were slander and insults.
I did take a look at @kkwwll's posts shown at https://lowendtalk.com/profile/comments/kkwwll
@kkwwll's posts seemed positive and friendly to me, so I decided to let him have a VPS even though his account was a little new and his posts a little abbreviated.
From my perspective, perhaps you could have gone one step further in your analysis of @kkwwll's application.
With every application there is another which might be better. Should we prioritize the order in which the applications are submitted, or should we select the best from the entire group of applications, independent of time? I've been prioritizing the time of submission. My view has been that, if the application is good enough, it should succeed, even if followed by a better application.
Would you like to join my projects and help evaluate applications? Then it wouldn't be just me making the decisions. I invest time reading each application, checking the applicant's profile, googling, responding to applications, sending login details, and helping successful applicants who report trouble logging in. I'd love to have help! Thanks for considering!
No worries! Have a nice day.
Thanks @ Not_Oles!
