There needs to be more than one /64 to a home customer, in case they need to separate Guest WiFi from their main LAN. And that's just the most basic example, others may include networks for IoT, VMs, containers and so on. A /56 is seen as a reasonable middle ground between /64 (too small) and /48 (too big). Not sure what you mean "it is not a nibble", it is debatable what a nibble even is, when it comes to IPv6. But it is a clean separation on two characters in the IP, you can filter by 2001:db8:abcd:ef00::/56 (basically 2001:db8:abcd:ef*) and it looks clean. Not as if it was a /58, /62 or so.
But it is good to see a provider to be actively interested in IPv6 and have their own opinions about network design.
Meanwhile @AspireHosting provides /74 subnet in one of their locations (in others they don't have ipv6 at all).
If that's not breaking conventions then I don't know what is...
Current situation:
Thanks
But - A /64 can be sub-delegated down so that your vlans are on /72 or whatever you feel like. And I really think that's a VERY rare use-case. Most home ISP users aren't running all that. If they are - they should probably have a /48 (which the ISP should give without complaints tbh). There is also the option of using IPv6's "NAT" features to use local-only IPv6 addresses that are translated at the router --- I KNOW - I KNOW - it breaks the "P2P, PTP" of how the internet is supposed to behave and what IPv6 is supposed to fix.. but it also saves a lot of people that are used to using LAN/NAT IPv4 networks from having their devices that they probably haven't secured fully exposed to the internet...
A nibble is definitely cleanly defined. ARIN won't even let you do rDNS servers on something that isn't a nibble. If it cannot end where the next : begins, not a nibble.
The automatic address selection via SLAAC will not work on any subnet smaller than /64, so you're left with DHCPv6. And not every client device supports DHCPv6 (Android doesn't!), and IMO it is a hassle to set up and use.
Always turn it to 11!
Looking at the discussion I will be honest I don't know much about IPv6... any good IPv6 get started info to read?
I think it is illegal to not have a play bingo with @bingobangobongo session
hey @rm_ nice 2 see you ... what are you up to lately ?
all good i hope
hey, i have setup ipv6 only vps and i can ssh all the time but keep losing outgoing internet.
when i restart networking, it works,,,, discounnect and comeback tomorrow... no outgoing and i have to restart again.
can you please tell me something i ask the provider to check? or fix the above
On Android - I have an app that makes DHCPv6 work
But I agree - SLAAC is the best practice just because it's so widely supported. IDK what Google was thinking by leaving DHCPv6 out of Android... It's the only case I can think of...
Guys I think there's an insane deal here: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4462781/#Comment_4462781
This is really insane, let's hope we reach 50 unique comments
Btw guys - I haven't really noticed any other Balkans deals here. Is it just not common at all in the Balkans or did I miss any?
Wanted to grab some up myself if I see any good deals.
How about balkan sisters? Does that count?
I guess I can offer the following

Thanks need to be done on this comment. Your comment afterwards need to be done on that same thread, preferably with the text "HostDZire is on fire".
Come on, please help, for the happiness of FAT32 partition who managed to steal that crazy deal out of provider's (mouth) keyboard.
I get a /56 at home. I wish VPSes would come with at least a /56, too. Wireguard needs it's own /64 really. It won't share. Otherwise you end up with IPv6 NAT for wireguard.
That's one thing Linode does right. They gave me two /64's, and would have switched it to a /56, as well, if preferred.
where is
hey @VisualWebTechnologies where are you?
Sorry for being late to the party, here is a fresh yabs made on the storage hdd.
Have a look at the yabs. What is the problem with send speed on ipv6? Disk I/O is also.. below average. There is a pending ticket
