I'm using my Linveo VPS not even as a server but as a remote computer that I RDP into (over SSH) from anywhere on my laptop to get work done. Open RDP and boom all my open programs are still there, sitting on a 9950X CPU, ready to resume work again. I don't need to keep my desktop on 24/7 anymore (which has a more-measly 9900k).

I legit may not even need to buy a 9950X CPU since paying for this VPS for 5 years is cheaper than buying a 9950X (only for it to become old tech in 5 years). If anyone is looking for a remote desktop computer or wants real-time access to a powerful CPU, this is the best VPS I have found to fulfill that need at an affordable price.

If I had to keep only one non-storage service, I'd keep my Linveo AMD VPS. As @Not_Oles himself said, you can use the VPS to get actual work done..

Totally agreed. I am using Linevo 4x core 9950x server and I am running my office works there lol. I too am using it as RDP. Great performance.

    Using win11?

    Windows Server 2022

Do you have any experience with a 4 vCPU rome/milan 16gb, is it usable?

Windows server 2022. I use the standard RDP built into Windows. The only difference is I installed OpenSSH server on Windows, blocked the RDP port on Windows firewall, and used an SSH tunnel to connect to RDP. There are tutorials online on how to RDP over SSH.

If I install Desktop Ubuntu or Linux Mint (with Linveoโ€™s 7 snapshots I can switch OSes on the VPS) I use XRDP but still tunnel it over SSH.

You need a license to run Windows on anything, unless you want to use mass grave.

Yes, you can run anything on a Windows server just like on Linux (provided there's Windows binaries or support for the things you want to run). The main difference is you'll have a desktop UI just like on a Windows PC, rather than a terminal shell like in Linux. All the ports will be open (like DMZ on a home router), so you'll need to take some extra care with your firewall rules.

Be aware that to install Windows, you will need to embed the virtio drivers into your Windows ISO file so it can detect the disk and install Windows. You'll need to install all the virtio drivers to gain access to the network, etc. For Linveo specifically, I also had to configure a static IP address using the address and gateway on the panel to gain access to the internet.

If you don't know how to pack the virtio drivers into the Windows ISO, you can mount the Windows ISO to the virtfusion panel, get to the disk screen, eject the Windows ISO, mount the virtio drivers ISO, load the RedHat storage driver (named "viostor" or something), then eject the virtio drivers ISO and remount the Windows ISO before proceeding with the installation.

Virtfusion (the panel they use) does not, at least not that I can see anyway.

Any experience with Jump Desktop? on the surface I think its more secure than RDP.

anyway, finally success using rdp with windows server 2022.

What resources do the Intel VPS have? I mean, what type of RAM and CPU.
I'm asking this because they have a big difference in resources compared to the AMD VPS, yet they're the same price.

The Intel CPUs are much weaker. There's a YABS posted on the Intel VPS thread. If you don't mind the less powerful CPU, then the Intel VPS is a much better deal.

any other rules I have to include:

New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Allow SSH" -Direction Inbound -Protocol TCP -LocalPort 22 -Action Allow
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Block RDP remote" -Direction Inbound -Protocol TCP -LocalPort 3389 -Action Block
