Appreciate your response!
Still interested - as per my previous comment - in the thought process and market research that went into deciding on the $20.25/m price tag. I appreciate you being very up-front about your complete lack of sysadmin skills, but for a price that could get you a rather high specs VM at any other provider (with SLA, with business use, without randomly disappearing) shouldn't a basic level of quality be expected from your 'services'? If not, shouldn't you price your services accordingly?
Kindest Regards
for 18€ get a supreme shell here:

@Avoro @dataforest
I like peaceful servers with a small number of users. Not 100. Certainly not 500.
I like each user to have abundant resources.
Usually only a few people are interested in these offers. If more than a few people are interested this time, the solution is adding more servers, which Hetzner seems to be able to accomplish in six minutes.
Thanks for your question! I hope my reply helps. Best wishes!
Considering you can get the WHOLE server to yourself directly from Hetzner its just a bad attempt at a money grab theres no other reasoning for having the price so high if you just wanted "respectful" users or wanted to learn you wouldnt charge criminal prices

I'd pay $20+/mo, if it's a AX42. I'd just rent the server if not for the exorbitant setup fee, which I refuse to pay just for a trial by principle.
I've offered many different servers across many years at many price levels, including free, including one dollar, including this yearly increasing price level.
Clueless™
Sure! The basic minimum. I'm just a guy. I try to do what I can, and I try not to promise more.
Respectfully, what the fuck
+1 Not_Oles
he is the dude
know him for his thrust to learn something new ..... also has big fists so .. don't fk with him.
Thanks for posting the Hetzner screenshot. Yes, people can get an entire server directly from Hetzner for a little more than twice what I am asking for a shell account.
Hello @ehab! Always nice to see you! Thanks for your kind words!
I mean, it's not the weirdest offer I ever saw, but...
@Not_Oles how are you divviying up IPs, or is it just internal compute without an external IP?
KS Flush sale beats that.
Not great for 18€ but fine I guess as long there is no KS sale.
Thanks for your question!
The server comes with 1 IPv4 and an IPv6/64.
More IPv4 IPs are available from Hetzner. We alternatively could use NAT on the existing IPv4. Probably we have enough IPv6 IPs.
Hetzner charges a setup fee and a monthly fee for extra IPv4s. Please see https://docs.hetzner.com/general/others/ipv4-pricing/. Probably I would ask those who want extra IPv4s to pay the Hetzner fees.
IPv6 IPs from the /64 pool are free.
Best wishes!
I was interested but after some research think the price is too low.
Can you raise to $50 MRC per user?
Do I gather from all the replies that this is actually a serious offer and not a joke? 😂
People have purchased similar offers in the past. Nobody has purchased this specific offer -- yet. But it might happen. If someone, or several people, go for this offer, I will let you out of your promise. Best wishes!
It's both a serious offer and also a joke! At the least, it's meant to be a fun offer!
Low End Life can be a lot of fun for all of us! Haha, I bought the domain lowendlife.lol while thinking about your comment. Thanks for the idea! Best wishes!
That's some pretty damn cheap entertainment, actually.
What fuckery is this.
Someone buy and make rubben keep his promise
@Rubben you’re serious about the live stream doing that shit?
If so what do you say @beanman109 should we get a month and split it?
Nah! I already promised to let @Rubben out of his promise. But, great idea, @emgh!
but sir 20$ can't just disappear randomly on a monthly bill agreement.
I see him free on LES, but $ 20 on LET ...
Its require for pay biloh fee
The $20.25 doesn't disappear randomly. It goes to Hetzner. It helps pay for the server. If there are more than a couple of users, then it buys my lunch.
Please read carefully! Best wishes!
why half the price of the server?
McDonalds included.
supreme!
@Not_Oles has been doing shell accounts and most of the times, he does it without charging, or $7/m, pay something, non-recurring $1/m.
The pricing depends on current year, thus $20.25.
Just my assumption but it seems like Tom wants to fund his free shell account projects. I don't follow him closely but he has more than just a few dedi for share, and weed out abusers.
I really appreciate his spirit but it isn't successfully accomplishing his intended objective.
With that price tag, undoubtedly no rational individual would buy it, unless someone is convinced by the transparency, efficient management, actual positive outcome of the project. Should my assumption prove accurate, it'd still be a waste as your donation would be spent on a server no one is using.
The other goal is adequately met but not in a good way. The price is so absurd that no one could be viable target demographic.
It's my fault that I never checked for reviews of his service, so whether his initiative has any favourable result remains unclear to me. AWS, Azure, GCP all have free courses if you want to learn cloud computing. Yearly VPS in sub-$15/y aren't half bad either, and you have a dedicated IPv4.
Again, @Not_Oles went out of his way to have a patron provider tag, and offers free accounts for fun/education purposes. It is always nice to do nice things, but the altruist should expect loss as donations are not guaranteed, and keep their operation in a manageable scale. Best if you do this with spare idlers, not buy more and find a way to foot the bills.
I honestly thought it was a typo like some extra zeros in the price. 🤣 🤣
