one cannot run a production service on your platform I rest my case if you cannot issue a 28$ to an unhappy customer **I have 0 confidence in you reimbursing people for loss of revenue **

Who the fuck does? Abso-fuckinglutely no one. This is LET, GTFO.

MassiveGrid thanking a comment containing insults directed at a dissatisfied customer. Really?
    Man...

There are no insults, let alone plural insults in what you quoted. Fuck off. (That's also not an insult).

Are you going to argue a company does reimburse for loss of revenue on a $28 service for 4 years?

Why would you choose a $7 a year service for >production for something that generates >revenue? If you’re making money from a project, then you have the money to spend on more robust, stable infrastructure. You don’t have to pay idiotic prices like what AWS charges but choosing a $7 a year plan… really?

$7 a year services like these are best for hobbyist projects or to host static websites like a personal blog, where it’s a net out-of-pocket expense. If you are running something that actually makes money, dedicate a slice of that revenue for your infrastructure. You need to spend money to make money. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.

Sometimes it is expensive to be cheap… more often than we think.

    :+1:

Best practice is to use a managed VDS service with an SLA suitable for the business needs. You can experiment with VPS and you can use them for dev / staging environments, but the shared nature of VPS makes it by definition risky for production.

Someone can definitely start with a VPS to build and test their product in the market, but once there's traction and they start making revenues, the best is to work with their provider to make a rock solid plan and SLA for production to have a solid infrastructure base for their revenues.

For production systems we always recommend VDS with SLA and we even provide revenue guarantees on managed services running on high availability and scalability.

It's really true. I use these outrageous deals much like I use raids of old disks, I know some are going to fail and I don't put anything on them that isn't running somewhere else too. It's just natural I think to try to squeeze the most out of whatever resource.

That being said though, I also use them as a test of a host that's new to me. So yea it's $7 or whatever but if the experience is horrible you're going in the horrible bucket forever.

We had some seriously shit service for a while there from MG, udp being unusable etc, but they've corrected whatever was causing that and I've been a happy user since (for my use cases).

That's exactly why we offer these deals, for people to test us out, get feedback, improve our product and evolve.

Oracle Free Tier is even cheaper and powerful for those projects. 0$.
What people mean is that they expect some performance on their money paid. And NO, this is NOT for production. I agree. BTW MassiveGrid solved every problem that came up, even if they were a bit slow doing it.
