How's the EU launch going? :)

  • Hi. Is Free eM Client Pro License (3 Devices) is "one activations and the license is gone"? As, if I will change the devices, I would want to retire a license for the older device and receive a new key for the new device

It's the same single license that can be activated on 3 devices. There's an option to deactivate a device in the panel, which frees up a slot for a new one.

Two active domains within the Cranemail reseller system, first complaint about 3 hours ago, I can manage the users in one of the domains but it does not close the connection with the servers, initially there is a problem with authentication, another domain is not possible to manage the users...

In other accounts outside the reseller system, in principle it is ok.

The Temp folder blew out the primary OS disk. We had bumped it yesterday but it ballooned up to 150G overnight (people syncing data in and it was mid copy? who knows).

I moved the temp onto the cluster instead so that issue won't repeat. It was there originally but it seems during the last SM update it removed my symlink.

It didn't kick off hetrix alerts since SM was still running an d doing its thing up until Akash gave things a restart and it didn't like that.

    Sorry about that.

Mike's current plan is to bump it $5 per 250G a plan has. So, a 500G plan would go up $10.

The rest of the plans stack the same way so I don't see him changing that formula with the bump.

Yep, sorry about that. The Vegas cluster actively has 400T spare and we're using like 5 - 8% of it all inclusive. It has a while to go.

I'm going to finish up the software side today (and I'll make sure to move the Temp folder from the get go ....).

Times are up to Mike. I know he really wants to get a mail blast out to people to scoop up the old pricing one last time. We've yet to email our own shared users yet. Its been entirely word of mouth and LET/LES.

No problem - thanks for helping me test my local mail backup strategy. Found a few things to improve during this outage so #winning ! :)

The small things I guess. My guess would be there was a bunch of migration jobs running (user triggered ones) and that piled up a bunch of temp files. We've seen some massive transfers to date (100GB in a single inbox kinda stuff, all email/attachments).

  • Did anyone experience a problem with webmail stability this morning?

Does the rclone implementation you have add to this load too, or was this temp data generated exclusively by the mail-related services?

Is there any talk of positioning this as a ProtonMail alternative, with built-in PGP? Think there's an interesting place in the privacy mail market where ProtonMail is ridiculously expensive (totally disconnected from the cost of hosting) and TutaMail are lagging behind in the technology space. You're coming in greenfield and could really disrupt this area.

Wasent something we’ve planned at all. I know incogent was wanting to offering something like that.

Plenty of people have asked SM to integrate PGP but nothing yet. I’ll bug them and see.

https://imapsync.lamiral.info/ every hour to sync to other mail servers (on NAS at family members' house), to give them a semi-warm retrieve only access to their mail should mail go down.

Same setup for a https://github.com/stalwartlabs/mail-server server hosted on VPS. Only IMAP retrieval for now, may set up https://snappymail.eu/ as a web front end. Used to use mxroute large storage server for this, worked well but looking to save costs but may switch back to it (or CraneMail EU perhaps) for convenience.

https://github.com/OfflineIMAP/offlineimap3 to create local maildir copy on a server so I can then point duplicacy/borg to that for archival purposes.

And portable installs (so easy to move around) of https://www.mailstore.com/en/products/mailstore-home/ pointing to each mailbox.

I also have a mxroute lifetime so may setup family members with email accounts on that should they need to send during outages but this will probably be more hassle than it's worth.

Above is crude but it works :)

We'll add it to hetrix, but hetrix probably wouldn't have caught this. It def didn't on the HTTP check.
