CraneMail Features

(NEW) Z-Push (ActiveSync) - iOS Push for Email/Contacts/Calendar

We've now implemented Z-Push on CraneMail plans. Z-Push is an open source ActiveSync implementation that allows you to get push notifications for emails on your iOS/Android mail clients as well as faster contact/calendar syncing.

(NEW) Rclone Support - BETA

Get more out of your CraneMail storage with Rclone support. We've customized Rclone to allow support for the CraneMail backend. We're waiting to see if Rclone will accept our changes, but for now you can get access our own custom Rclone build here:

https://github.com/namecrane/rclone/releases/

(NEW) Admin Panel Updates

1-Click Account Login

Easily manage your users and login to provide customer support (resellers) from the CraneMail admin portal - easily get access to one of your user accounts without asking for the password.

Bulk Add Users / Aliases (Forwarders)

We've made it easy to bulk add new mailboxes and aliases (forwarders) in CSV format, reducing the amount of clicks it takes to add these normally in the SmarterMail GUI.

Professional Business Email Suite with Collaboration Features

Fully featured business mail suite with all the fixings - cloud file storage & folder sharing, contact and calendar sharing, chat, online meetings (voice/video), tasklist management/notes, and much more. Powered by SmarterMail, you can dive into the full feature set and documentation here.

Amazing Webmail Experience

The webmail user experience has been a huge hit with our beta testers, offering a much more Outlook-like experience for email. Mail, contacts, calendars, online meetings and tasks are closely integrated as you’d expect with something like Google Workspace.

Get more details on the webmail features and additional screenshots here.

Included Cloud Storage

All plans offer a combined amount of storage for mail and files. Easily upload and share large files with family/coworkers or in email/publicly via URL. WebDAV support is still being developed but will be available in the future, so you can utilize the storage with rClone and other desktop sync tools.

Cloud connect features let you sign into your existing cloud storage accounts and browse/manage files, plus copy them over to your CraneMail account.

Supported Email Protocols

Beyond the great webmail you obviously get access to a bunch of protocols so you can use your CraneMail plan with any email client:

  • IMAP
  • POP
  • SMTP
  • MAPI + EWS
  • Z-PUSH (ActiveSync)

Free eM Client Pro License (3 Devices)

Each Primary Domain gets access to an eM Client license good for 3 device activations. eM client is a desktop and mobile email client that tightly integrates with SmarterMail. We've found it to be a fantastic Outlook alternative.

Built-in Mail Migration

Easily move your mail from your existing provider with the built-in mail migration tool. Provide your existing email account’s login details, or authenticate your gmail/outlook/etc accounts, and start a bulk mail move from your current mail provider that runs in the background.

Premium Spam Filtering from SpamExperts

Bundled with every CraneMail account is spam filtering from SpamExperts. Filtering is done via our on-prem SpamExperts nodes. You get access to the control panel to tune spam filtering settings, release/train mail, and more.

Great Email Deliverability

Mail is sent via our own spam filtering outbound relays to retain our clean sender reputation and make sure the mail we send ends up in the recipient's inbox. We’ve built a sufficient reputation with large mail providers in the last few months and feel confident in our ability to deliver your messages.

Our default sending limits are 600 emails/hour per domain. This isn’t a service for bulk mailing, marketing emails, etc - it’s a primarily inbound business/personal email hosting service.

No Per-Mailbox Costs, Easy Administration

Your domain administrator access allows you to easily add mailboxes/aliases and manage domain settings. We don’t limit mailboxes so you can create as many as you need without increasing your bill.

Primary domains allowed on each plan are effectively separate overall accounts per-domain. These are limited based on the size of plan you purchase. We don’t limit domain aliases (multiple domains attached to the same mailboxes).

More Great CraneMail Features

  • 2-Factor Authentication for Webmail
  • Fetch emails from your mailboxes with other email providers, send-as via their SMTP - screenshot
  • OnlyOffice web-based document editing for documents/spreadsheets/presentations (BETA)
  • Contact & Calendar Sharing, full CardDAV/CalDAV support
  • Email archiving - keep an extra copy of in/outbound mail for certain mailboxes, so you never accidentally delete a message (counted against main storage)
  • And much much more. Check out SmarterMail’s site for the full feature set.

Technical Details

CraneMail nodes use ZFS-backed storage with mirrored NVMe's for mail. Offsite backups are taken hourly for disaster recovery purposes only - not individual account restores or accidental email deletion (use the Email Archiving feature!). 10 gigabit networking for fast uploads/file sharing.

At the time of posting CraneMail is only available in our US (Las Vegas) datacenter.

Hey Francisco, good luck with sales. Question about EU, if someone buys any package now, would it be possible for them to switch EU region?

You can share files by the link. If you mean between members of the same domain, there’s some big changes on the way from SM.

Mike mentioned it in the top but we run 6 x6 raid6 arrays on each storage node and do hourly backups to a remote location that we only use for backups.

What if we pay the difference for switching to EU?

edit: BTW, I'm using 1000G lifetime for a week and it's rock solid. I highly recommend this service. I grabbed one early, thinking "after full webdav and rclone support, it'll cost more".

    NL 100%.

I’ll talk with Mike to see where his prices are landing. The main talk was that the base plans were going up $10 but not sure if that carries as things multiply.

I actually just realized I never put up the 10TB lifetimes. Will fix that. We have sold some 5TB's though.

    Thanked by 2Smigit nghialele
  • NameCraneNameCrane Member, Patron Provider

Will add, since it comes up in tickets a bunch: if you want to try it out before committing to the lifetime, you can get the $10/yr or $20/3yr and then ticket sales to upgrade to the lifetime before April 1st and I'll just invoice you the difference to the lifetime.

If you know you're going to buy it anyways I prefer you don't make me do the extra work/pay the extra transaction fees, but I've done over a hundred of them at this point - so it is an option.

Webdav is up to the devs to get ready short of us being madlads and try to side load it. Rclone is there, works great. I need to push the latest update that makes it work with 2FA.

    Hope you enjoy your 1TB!
