dude got the email everyone got about crunchbits being acquired. they are pissed off because it has no unsubscribe option. they feel it is spam / marketing. they should probably just email / open a ticket with crunchbits but they came here to voice the burdens and trials of their inbox. typical lowendsupport thread
i have 3000 emails in my work inbox, and 12985 emails in my @jar backed personal inbox so my perspective is obviously different here
synteq digital's bits
I do also receive the same email as OP can I request a $7/yr?
Someone PMSing hard.
I suggest you delete your crunchbits Synteq account
I thought crunchy did not love me then I checked spam folder
Ridiculed, as promised. Just login and delete your account.
Ngl Cogent was the fastest one i've ever seen. When we just registered our ASN they directly contacted via Telegram. I didn't even know ASN was ready
No opt out. Tell them to piss off, and maybe three months of silence. Then another email.
Cogent called me yesterday. Next time I’m going to answer and try asking if they’ll provide upstream for “the new KKK, returning to old values” or “a minor attracted person encrypted file sharing site.” Just see how far I have to go to make them actually not want to talk to me 😂
(This is a joke about making extremely absurd claims to drive someone as far from wanting to talk to me as possible, for the loser that tries to use it against me later)
a woman at the grocery store tried to talk to me about my dog because of the dog toy I was buying so I told her it was for me to finally have something to fuck up tonight. held to it that I was a furry without saying furry
a failed public roasting attempt, sweet
it's difficult when it's becoming frequent that people come here simply to name and shame over something that should have been a simple conversation with the provider. most of the complaint posts are frivolous nonsensical bitching and (not in this case) someone wanting to strong arm a provider for their incompetence or obvious TOS violation. I get where people are coming from but the intent seems shitty imo
Indeed, this email does not comply with CAN-SPAM US regulations and it does not matter if it’s an announcement. It’s still promotional in nature, but it wouldn’t matter regardless.
Every single email must contain business address and unsubscribe link.

Could you ask them if they're willing to provide $7/year peering for LET users. I would be interested.
Chargeback Sue yesterday
Ask them whether they would be able to provide you with IPv6 transit towards Hurricane Electric.
What you're saying is incorrect. I always opt in only for emails related to the service I'm using - everything else is opted out.
The OP said he hasn't been their customer for years and had no active service with them during that time, so he shouldn't be affected by the change mentioned in the announcement. Besides, the email I received as well is more or less a marketing message anyway. I'm not upset by it, but let’s call it what it is.
edit.
I just logged into the account. Everything, including "Join our mailing list" is opted in. That's not really me. I'm not implying anything, it's just strange...
There is no option to do this
Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if they sold you transit just for the commission they get, then terminated you shortly thereafter.
You know you can submit a ticket to have your account deleted if you're not planning to use the service in the future? No?
So instead of submitting a ticket/reply to them for whatever they are doing, you choose to publicly calling them out.
Billing portal has support tickets function for a reason tho, the reason is communication. You choose of communication is "hey chat those people are spamming me come here listen to my 3 minutes rant and give your comments".
At first, I tot @crunchbits randomly put your email that never exist in their system into this mailing list and send you that announcement for the very first time, yeah it is spam. But ..., in the past you were customer and had an account.
I have this setting in my CB account and received the announcement today.
Well, op exists in Crunchbit's user database. If Crunchbit is acquired or entering a partnership or whatever they prefer to call it, op's contact information will be handed over to the new owner. Hence, op is affected by this, so therefor Crunchbit should make op aware of it.
I'm no expert in international law and I don't even know where Crunchbit is located, but I do know that in many parts of the world Crunchbit would be required by law to inform op about this. Not doing it would be a criminal offence.
Whatever the local jurisdiction regarding this is, calling it spam is a wild stretch by any definition.
If this bothers op so very much, I recommend that op simply login to his account with Crunchbit and deletes it, and in the future refrains from giving his contact information to companies he does not wish to be contacted by.
You only get 1 Announcement Email, and you said "spam emails".
/ email(s) in plural.
@rcy026 to notify me that they have been acquired or have a partnership would only take a line or 2 at most, but the remaining 99% talk about the services they will offer...
for me it's spam
Apart from 🍿 what is the purpose of this thread?
Yeric is driving 🚗
Attention! attention!
Did you ask them to close your account yet and delete your PI? Wouldn't this be the easiest thing to do now?
When Cogent emailed us, we invited them to join Ontario Internet Exchange so that we can establish peering.
I mean, give the poor guy (OP) some attention! You know he spent quite some time "trying" to make some "drama" out of an announcement email!
Have you written a follow-up to them multiple times each week?
I got a similar (or the same?!) mail too.
However, since my experience with Cogent, I don't hesitate to drop shitty providers domains in rspamd.
Fast and guaranteed to stop mails from them.
