After 3 weeks of delays the crate has been picked up. The next flight to NL is on the 10th. I’m hoping to clear customs/imports before hand but who knows.

@Francisco any way we could use custom (longer and more complex) IMAP / MAPI / WebDAV/ etc / passwords in Account - Settings rather than auto-generated ones? I'm paranoid and really value longer passwords over more complex ones. Alternately - does SmarterMail have an option to increase the default length from the current 16 to 20 or even 24?

    TIA

You can set password complexity requirements on a per domain basis. You'd do that under Domain Settings as the primary admin.

    Francisco

Any further comment on this? Can we (re)create passwords that are longer than 16 characters for IMAP / MAPI / EWS? We can only request a password reset, but nowhere is there an option to set its complexity requirements

    Thanks,

Not sure how to multi-quote, so copy-pasting here my initial question - "@Francisco any way we could use custom (longer and more complex) IMAP / MAPI / WebDAV/ etc / passwords in Account - Settings rather than auto-generated ones? I'm paranoid and really value longer passwords over more complex ones. Alternately - does SmarterMail have an option to increase the default length from the current 16 to 20 or even 24?"

Your answer - "You can set password complexity requirements on a per domain basis. You'd do that under Domain Settings as the primary admin."

My reply - "If you refer to the Domain Settings - Password Requirements, I'm afraid that only controls the users' (including primary admin) MAIN password which we have the option to choose when creating the accounts anyway. But it doesn't seem to affect IMAP / MAPI / WebDAV / etc / passwords' length found under Settings - Account - Two-Step Authentication. I increased the minimum length to 24 (from the default of 8) in Domain Settings and upon refreshing the IMAP password, it still stayed at 16 characters long"

Hi @Francisco any comment to my providing the context?

I’ll bring it up as a bug :) it should generate app passwords that match the password requirements.

You can check the Content Filtering part, but that'd be a new one.

    A signature?

I took the bait and bought a namecrane deal a few days ago. I have migrated one domain from Google workspace. The process was painless - I had to contact support a few times and they were very fast to respond.

So far so good, and very happy.

  • @Francisco I purchased the 250G Black Friday Lifetime Plan and apart from some teething issues which were sorted out, everything has been smooth so far. Still testing though.

But now I am considering upgrading to the next tier - Lifetime 500G in expectation of future expansion. How would I go about this?

Log into your account, "manage" your email service and there's an "upgrade/downgrade" button on the left - choose the upgrade and pay and away you go.

Wowww that launch price is still there. SWIM wants to know when it will end?

When EU location is launched iirc. Anytime now.

  • @Francisco If I get two 250G plans, would it be possible to combine them into a single 500G plan later on?

I think its possible just by opening an ticket.

Why not just get a single 500G from the start? Merging is possible, it just seems like extra work.

Gear is live :) Doing software installs today and then it's on to Mike to pick the launch date.

    • what is the IP range of the mail servers?

Thanks for the great offer :-)

Yes, the same plans now, just $5 more. US will go up $5 at the same time.

@snow2k said: what is the IP range of the mail servers?

    Everything comes off 23.172.139.0/24.

Need any beta testers for the EU node?

    >

Already been on it. We're going to get an offload SQL in there and see who wants to move off.

@the_doctor said: Need any beta testers for the EU node?

Probably best we just test internally. If I let some beta tests, but not others, it'll lead to a lot of upset people. There isn't much to test anyway.

It's for possible provisioning scenarios. Just wanted to clear with you first before I go ahead and commit. I think I will upgrade to 500G first and then if it should become necessary, request to split into 2 x 250G. That ok?

  • FranciscoFrancisco Top Host, Host Rep, Veteran

    @twoconcept said: That ok?

    No.

We're not going to do splits or things like that. You're just asking for a lot more billing work for no reason.

Besides, what happens if we bump the price again and now you want to split, and keep an older price? Now we have to argue about it or charge you the difference.

@Francisco any idea when will you have Switzerland based reseller/crates?

  • FranciscoFrancisco Top Host, Host Rep, Veteran

@Chalipa said: @Francisco any idea when will you have Switzerland based reseller/crates?

Maybe this month, more likely in June.

The LUX DA nodes are now in NL (though networking is still routing via LUX). I've asked LU X to ship all of the spares + empty nodes to NL. My hope is they get there later this week, or early next, and we can finish moving the cPanel users.

At the moment I'm working on offload SQL's for NL & UK, and then Cranemail EU after that.
