Maybe he's virmache in disguise?
He might be having stomachache anytime now...... Jokes aside i don't think he is related to our fat boi virmache if he was he might have handled it way better compared to what he did.
Yes, but you can add an administrative fee. Given his business, it wouldn't fly... But you know... He's not in Europe so it doesn't matter.
Now, what I really have had sleepless nights about... Is charity porn art a thing? I mean... I a friend has 500GB sitting idle.
Like , if I'd set up a private ftp to share some art between me and some like-minded people like @bdspice ... Would that be allowed as by their TOS?
I am trying not to comment on these threads but @yoursunny got me ROFL like a fool in public.
We can call this “hunting snoopy”.
But like I said before. All they gotta do is
1. Apologize and agree to stop snooping
2. Give @bdspice a 1TB for his pron for the giveaway term
3. Change AUP to welcome public criticism
And I would welcome them back on LET in the future (not immediately).
Let’s not beat a dead horse / dance on graves. I think we have sent the right message as a community and shared how we care about our privacy.
I just stopped by to say y'all are wild. It's a privilege to have made it onto host.charity but you should update your records...I am not a Charity Host alt.

I have VPS boxes with both Charity Host and Racknerd. The one I have with CH was a great deal and has had more uptime than Racknerds.
I stand by what I said. Not your server, not your data. That said, everyone should have a reasonable expectation of privacy despite the provider having root access at the click of a button (my point).
What LET members have done is likely destabilizing CH regardless of it being warranted or not. Now I and other LET members have this PITA task having to find a new host if he goes south. Maybe it will turn out just fine...

i highly recommend greencloudvps if you feel insecure about racknerd.
now charityhost is just plain crap. he deserves whatever got going for him.
its time to
chargeback yesterday
You mean... chargeback from a charity?
Thanks. I'll check it out.
My problem is that no one else offers this for $8.00 a month. Yes, it is older hardware.
6 vCPU
24576 MB RAM
400 GB SSD
10 TB transfer
It needs to be in TX and I think Linveo is the closest
Chargeback every day
Pretty much this. And stop acting...well, the way he did, should he do anything that warrants criticism in the future.
Yup.
I dont think so. maybe distant relatives . Virmache is funny . I laughed for a whole minute to hear him delivering servers in the rain with his window down. the other not so much
@SilverCreek @fiberstate ?
so did @angstrom unbar you for being a suspected Charity Host alt ? I dont know the difference between ban and bar. My assumption is he did. welcome back. everyone is entitled to their opinion
May I ask which provider are you using? BasementHost?
Oh, so you are using .. regular providers also. Where is your server?
So is that uptime by the last reboot ? I went to RN after Virmach had to switch to his own hardware. RN been solid for me, although I dont keep uptime statistics. Never had any CH to compare with.
nevertheless, the witch hunt “argument” led to the other thread being closed. in my opinion, wrongly.
While I won’t debate the merits of that thread being closed, I will say it’s nice to have everything concentrated back on one thread for the time being
What happen to Virmach?
you have to go to the OGF to read about his escapades.
It's really to cover payment processing fees, I imagine.
They themselves call it an invoice fee 🤷
Also I don't really see the argument here.
Like.. Everything in this business creates costs somewhere.
Using the CPU consumes power, you use the internet and use bandwidth, you create a ticket and you cost valuable work hours.
When a customer rents a server, and pays for it, he pays for all that.
This, in the end, also includes the fees which are caused by him paying in the first place.
Nooo... You can't get rid of Calin!
@Calin WE LOVE YOU!!!
Freedom for all.
I think it's pretty obvious to everyone this guy isn't up to be an owner as he's not familiar with the phrase, "cost of doing business".
It's more likely a nefarious way to impose a price hike onto all their clients (regardless of plan purchased) and hope that enough of them are on autopay and don't check their credit card statements. Subscription services (e.g. Netflix), etc. do this and rely on this all the time.
Better question is does this admin fee apply to any non-profit orgs that were foolish enough to fall for their deceitful company name, which the host claims to give them a steep discount.
The admin fee may also be an indirect admission that they are on the verge of deadpooling (too many colocated servers/contracts tied up, not enough client invoice revenue forecast to cover them), so it'd be funny if people started cancelling their services en masse.
I mean, I guess I start to sell $1/year VPS from now on
(excl. a $74.95 invoice fee)
Restaurants in Washington DC like to tack on "wellness" fees, especially since the minimal wage for tipped workers increased.
They also like to tack on credit card surcharge, sometimes in excess of actual processing cost.
These are in additional to state tax and optional tip.
Every time I encounter such fees, I leave a 2-star review on Google Maps.
I ask restaurants if they do the credit card surcharge and pay in cash instead
Or I just take my business somewhere else
