No, after you press 'request cancellation', it get marked as 'cancellation requested', but it is still active with auto-renewal on.
Well, there is a real world where a lot of providers demand payment and send their claims to collection agencies if you don't pay.

They are a huge company and probably have tons of cancellations to do, even if the worst thing happens and you get billed you can request a refund and they'll provide it.
But for the sake of your mental just consider it done, you did things right (requesting a cancelation) and you wont get penalized for it.
Just move on.
That's generally EU providers because contract law there is different.
This does seem to be an ... unusual complaint, even by LET standards.
