MXRoute Doesn't Prioritize Cancelling Services

xvpsxvps Member

I cancelled my MXRoute service on 2025-03-04, but it is still active and marked for auto-renewal.

I created a support ticket today, and their support responded within 5 minutes:

Processing service cancellations is a low priority for us, as there are many more important issues for support to deal with. Therefore, these requests are processed in bulk every 3–4 weeks when we have time.

They responded to my ticket in 5 minutes but can’t cancel a service for weeks? I guess the 'Cancel' button must be behind a big red hat.

:D

is there more to this story lol

  • Just leave it as it is. You won't be billed so why care? If you want your data to be removed from mxroute entirely maybe create a ticket with that in title.

If you don't pay, it won't renew. "Cancelled" is just a status in the system. It'll auto terminate after non-payment, like most services, I would assume.

Jar probably manually reviews cancellation requests to determine if their was service abuse and if they need to be added to a blacklist or something. That's my bet. Not uncommon for services to get used, abused, then cancelled. Probably more-so with email related hosting than a VPS.

    EDIT: He answered here: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4409264/#Comment_4409264

  • I think you're fine just leaving it there.

    There, fixed it for you.

  • As long as your payment info is not saved on their system (no paypal or card details saved) nothing you should worry about. If you want to cancel service and if it's not cancelled, they will need to run after you to get payment. As long as you don't have anything saved, you don't need to worry about it.

I had a bad experience with auto cancellations years ago on WHMCS and it burned me on it forever. Don’t remember the details, but it clearly left an impression. Not to mention half of immediate cancellation requests are coupled with a “no wait don’t do that” ticket.

Who cares? Cancel any subs from your end and use service as long as possible, for free.

Maybe he's just being careful, remember there's some hosts that will even send you to collections over not properly cancelling your services!

The thing that the OP failed to mention, is that the service was actually cancelled 47 seconds after the ticket was replied to .... Direct Admin and Hostbill have this odd queuing thing going on. Which was 15 minutes before this post was posted. Drama anyone? SMH

I have to say that I didn't log in and check after I got a reply like that in an email.

You have at no point confirmed that you cancelled the service. But let me guess, you expect me to log in immediately and check whether your 'processed in bulk every 3–4 weeks' just randomly happened.

Instead, I only learn about it here, through an arrogant reply.

This pretty much sums up your view of your customers and your approach to customer service.

Ah, 'Merica—where customer service is a 'low priority,' but arrogance is always on time. :D

I think there’s a tampon machine in the bathroom

  • I know many people will defend it but from neutral pov, that was an arrogant reply.

You could say the same but in a little bit polite manner.

This, and I think it is a little disrespectful toward me as a customer, because I regularly have to follow up on this.

No one has to follow up on anything, it gets done. I thought this post was a joke, but I guess it’s funnier if it isn’t.

@xvps was your intention to get refund or not? If not and as long as you aren't charged for an unsolicited renewal, other than not the most polite wording, I see no reason for you to care

I created the thread because I found the support reply funny and because I was a little annoyed that I had to check up on this regularly.

I didn't have any other intentions and after the support reply I expected the service would be cancelled sometime in the near future. There was plenty of time before the next renewal.

But it's funny how you have zero respect for my time.

If the service is good, the quality of support does not matter, or if you pay xxxx$ per month, then can claim it.

Btw sendgrid/mailgun support is trash for that money, but polite.

I honestly dont understand why you have to. You wont get billed, you have nothing physical (or digital) for them to return to you.

After canceling you are just a number on a list that needs a human to data enter into another list and press a button.

Why are you so worked up?

Well, I wasn’t, but how is it so hard to understand that I find it unreasonable to have to spend time on a fucking subscription cancellation?

I can either check regularly or risk getting a bill later, at which point I’ll have to spend time digging up evidence that I already cancelled. Otherwise, I have to pay.

But why do you have to do any of that? You cancelled, your account said cancelled riight? You can literally move on with your life.

After you press the cancel button, and see it in yoru panel, you no longer have to spend an extra thought about the service.

@jar I have not been that active in LET in a while, but since I been actively reading the threads again you get the most weirdest off the wall complaints.
