Linux server administration & site migrations - Offering my services

edited April 2025 in General

Hey Guys.
I'm offering my services in Linux server adminstation & site migrations (with 15 years of experience!)
I can work with & without control panels, with apache or nginx, migrate sites from one server to another or shared hosting, make copies of existing sites on a subdomain (for development purposes), setup new servers from scratch, troubleshoot non-booting servers or sites that don't load/show white screen, tweak servers for optimal performance, security & handling high-traffic, setup remote or local backups as well as mysql/mariadb replication. resolve email delivery issues, migrate email accounts (incl all of the existing messages!), add/renew SSL certificates, adjust firewall rules, add URL redirection rules, malware detection & removal, setup proxy/vpn, and so much more! If you'd like to hire my services, please send me an email and we'll discuss it. My email address is REMOVED

Thanks and have a nice day.

Surely you've got better things to do with your time than spewing nonsense, or don't you?
I'm just a professional trying to make honest business here. I have no interest in scamming anyone.

Yea… No. OP do you realise that majority of folks here knows more than you? Just an army of Ron Swansons.

You're just being condescending and not contributing to anything really.
It's plain & simple, I'm offering a service, if you're interested fine, if not, you don't have to attack me out of boredom, find yourself some hobbies!

  • Sounds very trustworthy, my root passwd is DoNotCumMe123!, please fix my server.

Another one who has nothing better to do with their time I see.
You never heard of the phrase "benefit of the doubt"? There's a risk in everything, but as I previously stated, I'm just trying to make honest business and nothing more.

  • Email address removed? WTF? This forum is ridiculous. So much for giving someone a chance.
Seems the mods themselves are bullies here

This isn't really the right forum for offering your services in the absence of any reputation here

In general, it isn't sufficient to come here every six months or so and offer your services

  • smkzrsmkzr Member

It is weird though; you're offering services, but not providing any track record or trustworthy and presentable website/email. Seems shady to me? ;)

You can sugarcoat it any way you like, but ultimately, you're a bully on a power trip and you should be ashamed of yourself.

I do server administration & site migrations, not web design. And not everyone have a personal website. I previously worked on a big freelance site that went to shits after new management, but regardless, it's not my fault if you've lost faith in human beings, and there's a risk in anything. You need to give people the benefit of the doubt, that's always the way it is when you choose to hire someone new, in any field really.

He isn't bullying you, he literally gave you good advice: this isn't the forum for job seeking.

You need to get a better handle on your people skills, the job you are seeking will most likely have you interacting with customers so knowing how to deal with people is very important.

  • @wadhah I'm being bullied and poorly treated, and you're complaining about my "people skills"? That's just rich! My ppl skills are perfectly fine, but evidently, this forum is full of a-holes and I'm wasting my time here. Adios

You seem to be new here and aren't used to LET leg pulling. Perhaps get a slightly thicker skin before offering services here.

The person you were replying to wasn't bullying you, he offered you advice and you called him "a bully on a power trip" for no reason.

The others maybe, but you should just ignore them.

  • Not a very good start I shall say...everyone here is against you, yes. Suddenly. Without a reason. You are good, forum is evil.

Would you hire someone new at your corporation without a resume or CV?

I'm just calling it as I see it. Nothing in my intial post should've triggered the comments I've received. Yes, this forum is absolutely full of unpleasant people.

That's an entirely different situation which isn't 1:1 comparable.
To make a more decent comparison, say your TV stopped working, it's out of warranty, and you needed to hire a TV technician to look into it, you would've needed to place your trust in that person, and give em the benefit of the doubt, which is the same here. People give others the benefit of the doubt on a regular basis

First, this forum isn't primarily or even secondarily a forum where people offer their services. If you had spent more time here as a regular contributor, you would (or should) have seen this.

Second, you're just a random guy with no reputation on a hosting forum: why should anyone here choose to trust you or to give you the benefit of the doubt? (Especially given that there are plenty of knowledgeable participants here with established reputations)

  • @angstrom No matter how you put it, ultimately, you've chosen to abuse your moderation power and mistreat someone who's done nothing to you, and that says more about you than me, that's for sure! It's not uncommon for people to give indepepdent contractors the benefit of the doubt, in fact, it happens on a regular basis in different fields. If you're trying to claim it's "normal" for people to have zero trust in each other, than it's absolutely not! It's not my fault if you've lost faith in people, and just because you don't know me, it doesn't mean I'm a scammer or bad at what I do. Anyhow, I don't think there's more to be added here. I've come here on a positive vibe just trying to get some new clientele, and gotten overwheled by all of the unnecessary negativeity I've received.

My suggestion for the OP is to create a professional-looking website to showcase his service. He should also consider writing blog posts and tutorials related to what he offers.

Put link to your website as signature. Additionally, being active and helpful here in LET can build trust and attract potential customers.

How have I abused my moderation power, and how have I mistreated you? (abuse and mistreat are strong words)
