Which self hosted controlpanel are lightweight but also performance oriented?

Hi guys,

I’m looking for a Linux control panel (Apache or LiteSpeed Enterprise)—Nginx won’t work for my use cases.

I’m specifically searching for non-SaaS control panels. Cost isn’t an issue. Ideally, I prefer non-Docker setups (running bare metal here, so I need full performance without overhead).

The setup will host high-traffic e-commerce sites, and I’ll handle the tuning myself (Apache, MySQL, etc.).

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • TinyCP: Not bad, but it seems like a dead project. Too risky for production usage.
  • ApisCP: Decent, but the file system layer architecture is overly complicated. There are also minor limitations and a few too many bugs popping up in releases.
  • CloudPanel.io: Don’t even mention it—it’s Nginx only.
  • Plesk, DirectAdmin, cPanel: All of these are bloated with unnecessary features. Default deployments don’t offer good enough performance. PHP is compiled with so many modules that there are noticeable performance penalties compared to options like TinyCP or ApisCP (measuring raw, non-cached page loads).

Last but not least, should be "shared hosting friendly" (limits like cgroup, jailing etc)

I’ve tested at least 10 others and still haven’t found the right fit. I’m hoping you can point me in the right direction or convince me to reconsider something.

Let me know your thoughts!
