    On top of the privacy concerns he opens himself to liability. He’s already shown he will go through someone’s data, what if something stolen/etc is there and he missed it?

    I have had charity host take a look at my VM (when I was a customer of theirs) and they did unmount the file system and tried to create a whole different problem, and saying that I needed to reinstall.

    The real issue was that the network interface has been renamed post maintenance and it was expecting the old one).

    Something tells me they just forced removed the disk attached to my VM from the host and then remounted it later and said "it's fucked."

    I just rebooted it and fixed it myself after they offered no help. No reinstall.

    They're not just malicious, but also incompetent and untrustworthy.

    I wouldn't touch this provider with a 10 foot pole before and now I don't think they should be allowed to trade period.
