... it was just not for life!

Shame it had to close
I was hoping it would continue with lifetime users getting something like 5-10GB free, so at least something, but it's understandable that it's closing.
End of the game =(.
Thanks MikePT and Jar, it has been a nice road! Thanks for all
. Jar you saved us some precious time to move away, as usual you are a awesome human. MikePT you offered us inexpansive and powerful hosting, I hope everything is getting back well on your side.
And thanks to providers making offers to refugees! Much appreciated, so helpful
.
jar already helped keep the services alive so users have time to obtain and migrate their data.. this is already shutting down so no point asking mike anything now
You've already proven to be a very generous man, and now giving extra 3 months is yet another confirmation of the fact.
I've never been MyW customer, but I am now a proud MXroute customer. Of a non-lifetime offer, if I may add.
All the best!
Let me just say that the email I sent out was meant to be precise and honest, not to be rude. But if anyone wants to open a ticket and be rude about it, I’m more than happy to give them a look at the alternate timeline.
This is the last time I do something so stupid like buying lifetime hosting....

Since this is a "community server", there are no taxes. No revenue = no taxes.
But my idea is being ignored anyway — there must be reasons for that.
Somehow, I have the feeling that we’ll soon see "another" (new ?) web hosting provider offering lifetime hosting packages. But I could be wrong.
@jar Thank you for saving a lot of folks some very valuable data and time. That email shows your dedication and character in the hosting industry. Not only did you saved the ship from sinking but you kept it floating for FREE! No other host would do this. Now you decide to shut it down and give us 3 months to move out for FREE. I really wish other providers were like you! Kudos to you and your team!
@jar is the one to thank. I had great plans for MyW but didn't work out. I guess I wasn't made to own webhosting companies, but rather to work for those!
@jar, thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you @jar

Hey Mike, This shall too pass! Just Stay Alive brother!
I moved my stuff away once the warning signs started to appear well before @MikePT announced closure - dwindling stability, non-renewed / cancelled licenses, minor issues that seemingly took forever to acknowledge and fix etc.
Anyway, I am sure there were/are people that probably couldn't move at that point due to obvious issue, and @jar literally saved the day for them by keeping the ship afloat for almost a year at personal cost & with nothing to gain from it. Thanks again for the assist!
I assume you aren't accepting offers of acquisition to avoid what happened in September when MyW was closing, causing users to move off and then refund a bunch of other providers when things were staying online?
It's such a toxic asset I honestly just think it needs to die a proper death. I'm happy that I was able to facilitate one that wasn't so sudden.
Honestly good call to make sure it dies here. There's not really much to salvage off the plans/setup they had and any host that thinks otherwise... well it'd just be hurting the users.
@MikePT Wish you & your family all the best. God bless.
is there any refugee reseller package offer?
so what happens with the account that abuse server logs to TB in size? what's your stance on it? are you suspending them?
@jar I don't think I have participated in this thread, so doing now. THANK YOU for the time and effort you have put in to keep the boat float, and give people adequate time to move to a more permanent solution. You didn't have to do it, but you still took your time, effort, and money out of courtesy, and I really thank you for that. And although I am a really small customer of MXroute, I am proud of being one.
@MikePT I have purchased some services from you, and I don't regret it. Although it would have been great if the services were indeed provided throughout my lifetime, but I do understand things happen. I hope you my best of luck on your next adventure, and thank you for the service you have provided with MyW.
They were running a criminal operation on MyW. I will be keeping their data and I would be thrilled for them to sue me over it so I can learn their real identity. Their data is my proof of innocence in the matter.
Just out of curiosity, those hosting plans don't have a disk quota cap? Were they "unlimited"?
I know that DA/cP stores log in user's home, so it should've reached quota pretty fast...
Oh well... I still don't understand the reverence for @MikePT when he did such a poor job out of the service (it was bad for months) and shutdown (so many options, his choice was nothing), but not gonna rethread my comments on that...
I see no issue with lifetime hosting, for me it's just a highly discounted hosting, that gets cheaper over time, if it works well for a reasonable time period then it was worth it, if not, then it wasn't, in my case with MyW it was pretty much worth it, even with quite a few performance/downtimes.
As for @jar it would be interesting if he could do something with it, but guess patience run out... understandable, the service wasn't in the best conditions on the handoff anyways, there were no promises and it was his to do whatever, still grateful he jumped in...
There are a lot of stupid people believing that for life is their life. No, lifetime is the length of product.
A PREMIUM service , with uptimes bordering 100% , which could not be @mikept , but up to that point is what many of us received.
I totally understand that myw must be in the past, seeing the behavior and comments of those left around here.
It makes me truly ashamed as a human being to see some attitudes.
@jar is an unsung hero. I know most of us appreciate what he did when he didn't have to do it yet I still see a few complaining. It's a shame. It is people like him that make this a community, albeit a shrinking one instead of just a forum.
Let’s give it a try!
