anyone know if it's possible to send imessages from an android phone? hacky / janky methods accepted

i wanna go back to android but a certain female i know will be pisd of

No won’t work in any decent way

Even if it goes tits up with this current female though, next one will be just as annoyed, keep that in mind

    apple ecosystem working as intended

I think there’s one or several services that offers it using basically an iMac VM that relays your iMessages but it would likely cost more than you’d save anyway

And they would have access to all you send

i have an old 2015 mac mini, 2017 mac air and M1 mac air, wonder if there is a self host able solution

    https://bluebubbles.app/

    Maybe?

My boss asked for an asset file and said he’d guess I’d find it in the database

I told him I’ll send it over tonight but that he doesn’t have to guess where I might find it because he’s clueless

    Response: ”but I like guessing”

Too bad AU carriers aren’t supporting RCS

If it’s just 1:1 messaging I think SMS is ok. Otherwise you might be stuck if you need to also convince a bunch to adopt signal / telegram / WhatsApp / whatever

Yeah, RCS isn’t iMessage so it’s not the same there. I’m not sure how well it bridges the experience but for those involved.

I wasn’t aware that any of the AU carriers have enable the protocol for the iPhone cellular profiles. Might be wrong. Had the briefest of looks on whirlpool last week as there’s thread that’s been running ever since Apple announced the support at WWDC in 2023 or 2024.
