6 CPU cores (2 dedicated, 4 fair-shared cores)
24 GB RAM
300 GB NVMe storage
50 TB premium bandwidth
$2 per year
Always a pleasure to see you around
Thank you
I hope to see the above offer on the 11th
Will you be expanding your presence to additional datacenters this year?
GreenCloud’s Tokyo servers offer two network options: SoftBank and IIJ. If a user wants to switch between them, there is a $10 fee. Has HostHatch considered giving users a similar choice?
I think I commented on this somewhere before, but the answer is perhaps one or two major metros (like Frankfurt).
The reason we cannot aggressively expand is because we have a fairly standard system that we deploy in all of our locations. This includes connecting to at least two (or more) upstreams. Most good datacenters (Equinix/Interxion/Coresite/DRT etc) charge between $300 and $500 per XC, so just connecting to multiple upstreams adds another $1k+ per month in costs. We also need internal servers in each location. Bunch of spare parts, extra node(s) in case of complete failures, etc. We can't just get a few U shared colo and add more locations.
You will see most of the LE providers do not have multiple upstreams, and are pretty much at the mercy of a single network/provider. We used to do that in 2020, but not anymore.
Personally I'd bite at 25% off with regular support.
Thanks for the rest, unfortunate there's no plans for Canada.
I'll keep an eye out for the 11th
@hosthatch what is the tradeoff on support level for getting cheap deals? If the whole node goes down, does it take longer time for support to take a look at this?
Or if your VM panel isn't working fine, or if VPS is in dead state, do you guys take your sweet time to diagnose the issue?
Or is it mostly tickets regarding some favours, or some things people ask from your support team because they are lazy gets answered late?
Because, if you are just fixing a slow node or bringing back a cluster that has died in few days instead of few hours, then I wouldn't call it "lower grade support", I would say it's "lower quality service"
For me, I don't care about creating support tickets, if the node or cluster is up I am happy. Downtimes do happen, but if you are lowering your service quality by offering lower grade support, that would be a different topic
I am not a HH customer yet, so hence my question.
I think it would be interesting to have something like add-on. Say I got a promo plan here but later decided to get better support, so I pay XX to you to get this. Otherwise, taking into the account the local culture, it is difficult coz people love $7/y deals.
As I was once a paying customer. I've never had to make an actual support ticket for any service down time. Probably because TY8 is extremely well built, maintained and just an excellent location.
The only ticket I have made is the timeline for au storage services (which I'm still iffy on due to CPU fair usage limits).
I think what would help build some confidence if the lower support priority has to stay for promos is uptime monitors that's public. Uptime Kuma or hetrix tools.
Ideally... And this was missed in my first question was are we adding more staff as hosthatch is still expanding?
Really interested in getting 3 NVMe servers in Vienna or alternatively in Zurich.
4 more NVME servers in Singapore.
1 or 2 NVME servers in Netherlands.
2 NVME servers in LA or New York, which ever has better routes to South America (Brazil).
Many Thanks
Prem.
Would definitely like to see larger NVNe sizes. 1 or 2TB would be nice
Hoping to see some London deals on the 11th 😊
Wow your sign of screen tells me my email is already taken, I don't see how that's possible unless I signed up with you years ago and don't remember and I see nothing that allows a password reset
are you storing the entire human genome?
Did you check the sidebar? There should be a "reset password" link: https://cloud.hosthatch.com/reset/password
Sick deal and they have a great network. I wish they allowed anonymous signups since they support crypto.
Do you have an acceptable usage policy for shared cpu usage? Could not find it on the website
We've made it IIJ inbound and SB outbound in Tokyo. Hong Kong is IIJ inbound and CMI outbound. Singapore is Korea Telecom inbound and CMI outbound. Note that this traffic (or any other China optimization) is never guaranteed, as we do not charge anything extra for these.
Front line support has nearly nothing to do with bringing up nodes, so no. Node downtimes affect everyone equally and its in everyone's best interest that we fix that as soon as possible.
We do not have an AUP for shared CPU usage. We offer dedicated CPU limits with our plans so you can plan your CPU usage accordingly.
Wow, I really appreciate the switch back to the SoftBank route. For China Unicom users, SoftBank performs much better than IIJ, which was exactly why I chose it in the first place. I'm also pleased to see that Hosthatch values user feedback.
When will the Tokyo/Hong Kong discount be available?
It's their birthday 11 April - I am waiting patiently to spend more money on Hosthatch!
I am simply poor
It's on!
