Yeah, that too, but I was only really an admin for a "Trouble in Terrorist Town" server on Garry's Mod. It was fairly vanilla, with just simple cosmetic stuff (at most like different name colors and whatnot).
It was usually people sucking up to me due to my position, but then I had two of those people also having some... very unkind words about me to other members of the community.
I didn't care if people liked me or whatever - people disliking you just comes with the territory - but the two-faced attitude is just... ugh. Don't try to act like we're friends / on good terms, and then tell others you actually hate my guts y'know. It's better if you're just indifferent in that case.

We didn't have a point shop luckily, I could only imagine how bad it would get.
Our audience was a lot younger than most I imagine, as we were a server where swearing was banned (and we kind of 'advertised' with that in the server title). Most of them didn't have the means to pay-to-win (or pay for cosmetics) anyway.
Owe a lot to that experience to be honest. You quickly learn to have a thick skin, not to mention that coding garbage Lua addons is a good intro to programming.
