Dedicated server with windows and torrenting allowed

CPU: at least 4 cores
RAM: at least 16 GB RAM
Disk space: at least 1TB

Ideally, I would like to install Windows using my own iso, so that I can use a license I already own. Second option would be to use a preinstalled windows, but often these come at quite a large extra fee. Lastly, as stated by @PulsedMedia in https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/188251/need-dedicated-server , I could use proxmox to install windows 11 as a guest, but I fear it will come with many complications, so I will leave this option as last resort.

As the title says, I would like to be allowed to do some light torrenting (not public trackers).

Budget: 60 USD (maybe a little higher, but hopefully not)

Win11 as guest only complication i have heard of is iGPU performance at times, but we have a customer with this kind of setup and doing game streaming with full performance tho.

We should write a guide or provide that as template sometime in future tho.

Thank you for your answer. As nice as they look, they are too expensive for me.

I understand. Well maybe you remember in future and check back and see something that might fit in your budget. Because indeed because of low stock there are only some higher ones there currently. I except new restock end of this month.

Also all dedicated Servers include 1Gbit Unmetered (NO fair use! Real unmetered) or 10Gbit 100TB by default.

While I am not familiar with the UK law, it is safe to assume they are not legal. I hope no DMCA will be received, because they will be downloaded from private trackers and in general represent less popular content. You may never know, though. What is your policy in case of receiving a DMCA?

Generally we will request the content is removed within 24 hours, We find good communication is key.

If the odd DMCA arrives we will ask you to resolve but if it becomes a heavily consistent issue we may have to cancel the service.

This can also very much depend on the extent they can be illegal.

Hello. Thank you for the offer. I have some questions:
    1. On the page you mentioned, D50 is quoted at 40$, when clicking the order button the new page says it's 50.
    2. Also the page mentions something like "Configure your server

Add more RAM, hard drives and IP ..."
I do not see any disk drives options when clicking order. I was wondering how much would cost 1 TB SSD / 1 TB HDD instead of 480 GB SSD for D65.

  • You could try the kimsufi range from ovh https://eco.ovhcloud.com/en/kimsufi/

  • Unless someone is publishing the content, how can one send DMCA though?

Suppose one is watching movies from a private torrent site. The media server is accessed by only a few people. In order to DMCA claim, how one will know that such content exists in server?

  • MugurMugur Member

There are providers who forbid torrenting regardless if they receive DMCA or not.

The problem with torrents is that there are companies whose job is to sit seeding every torrent they can and record every IP that tries to download/upload to their IP, and then send warnings to those IPs somehow.

It's not about content on the server, it's about downloading the torrent itself

You can look at our affordable dedicated server line which starts from 40$ for CPU with 4 cores, 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.

All they tell you is that if they see something illegal that you are using, they will just close the server without you being able to respond or say that it is not bad that you are using that.

Sorry I didn't see the message earlier,

We had some inventory at those prices which sold out all the Intel servers yesterday.

The promotional servers were with the specifications indicated on the website without being able to add additional disks.

Over the weekend we will include new dedicated plans with the configurable options of additional disks, additional memory :)

The prices are cheap cause it uses +6yr old hardware and if their automated system doesn't detect hardware faults then support will be slow.
