Suggestion for a future celebration thread.
The provider specifies specs/term/location of something. Then, using some kind of website, people have 1 minute to make anonymous bids of the price they'd be willing to pay for it. Then the highest bidder wins it.
You'd have to have some kind of system to weed out joke bids and make sure people actually pay.
But that's a job for someone else, I'm just the ideas guy
We have had auctions before and the issue is people are crazy and there’s a number of people very willing to pay way above market rate just for the thrill of it

Wanted to mention this earlier, and weird flex incoming.. but the fact that I asked for a particular flash deal (AZ storage), about 5 times (I probably annoyed NDTN). Not once, but twice, he renewed it soon after (missed it the first time, got it the second). That’s pretty amazing in itself.
I have 36 instances with GC now, acquired over the last couple years. Even with support tickets -- when I haven't gotten the response I WANTED from them (usually pushing my luck, tbh), they've been receptive in less than 5m and responded with a clear and reasonable response, and I honestly love that.
Nothing, and I mean, nothing has been broken so far for me (outside of the wonky Debian 12 image they had for a while, and an couple temporary upstream network issues which every provider deals with). I may have been fortunate.
Well deserved Top Provider and we’re all lucky we voted them as such because this was one hell of a thread.
2 to 3 days max I think. Definitely not more than that, except maybe during Black Friday/Cyber Monday, which could be 4 days max?
