Well now that you mention... I should make use of some of mine as well but I am not sure whether it might be used for abuse purpose (Imagine someone can share copyrighted contents by allowing auto join)

it's all encrypted end to end, it's pretty similar to operating a tor relay, accepted by most providers now aslong as it's not an exit point

Arguably it is an exit point? The purpose of it is for allowing it to work behind NAT, I am just not sure whether I will get myself in trouble

Honestly it would be fun just for a general chat type thing, I enjoyed hanging out with people in this thread

This cannot last long... because this thread has its own theme and mission... I see that the Cest Pit thread has reached its end! :)

I operate 19 relays and never been hassled once by a provider about them, some running/operating for well over a year

If you know how to use docker & docker-compose you can set it up in like 25 seconds on a fresh VM

    Congrats @NullSir

This way, host-c can also save the cost of ipv4. Haha

I've been probably running Syncthing Relays for around a year, with so far no issues. I don't think there's any risk. Connections are simply a bridge between A-to-B (as you say, intended to help users behind NAT) and encrypted between A and B. The relay itself isn't able to see any of that data.

If you know how to use docker & docker-compose you can set it up in like 25 seconds on a fresh VM

Yeah, with Docker Compose it's super easy. My config is basically this:

    services:
        syncthing-relay:
            image: syncthing/relaysrv
            ports:
                - 22067:22067
                - 22070:22070
            volumes:
                - ./config:/var/strelaysrv
            command: '-provided-by "GeoGuessr"'

Only thing you might wanna change is the ./config under volumes. All my compose files are in separate sub-directories anyway, so I just keep it fairly generic.

I believe Syncthing documentation recommends running it on port 443, but typically that's occupied by whatever service I run under HTTPS on my nodes, so I stick to the default of 22067: https://docs.syncthing.net/users/strelaysrv.html#running-on-port-443-as-an-unprivileged-user
