Path and Macarne (both shady companies) announced partnership recently 01/21/25.

Path's side: "we're proud to enhance their infrastructure"

    anyone know any details?

"We’re thrilled to share that we’ve partnered with @macarnellc on a successful on-prem deployment!

Macarne’s global network powers businesses across the US, Europe, and Asia, and we’re proud to enhance their infrastructure with cutting-edge security and performance solutions."

Equinix Global shutting down all Path Equinix POP's in a few days (Unpaid bills).
They have one invoice for all Equinix locations.

Source of mine says its more than 4 months of unpaid bills in Equinix US alone. And Path is big in Equinix so this will be lovely.

How do I achieve to get 4 months of service without paying? Asking for myself.

Be a big enough customer I guess.

Unless you file for bankruptcy afterwards it’s probably not worth it given late fees etc.

  • B2B is different from B2C. There is separate agreements, credit limits etc. But either way, your throat should be pretty deep for 4 months of credit…

Typical Stockholm syndrom. Any insights on their asn side? Peerings?

  • Current locations allegedly down/having issues.

    Miami
    Tokyo
    Phoenix
    Singapore
    Madrid

Another rumor is that Sydney is getting dropped "soon" as well. (days/weeks)

None for now. These are all second hand details.

Ah yes, optic issue, that 100% takes more than a week, and do they use 1 optic for the whole Tokyo region?

Made RIPE Atlas measurement to monitor Path: https://atlas.ripe.net/measurements/86481969

Frequency is 3 minutes so should be pretty real time.

It should be available using RIPE Atlas API since measurement was created

    UPD. Use latencymon feature

@Arkas can you change the topic name to 5 PoPs and swap category to outages from providers?

Maybe also edit main post to include "The cause of the outage is listed in status page of path.net, anything beyond that is pure speculation".

We're affected in Madrid. We've e-mailed our customers:

    Dear xxx,

At 16:35, we detected an issue with our AntiDDoS mitigation provider, Path.net.
The BGP session has dropped, meaning that the DDoS protection routes are no
longer operational, affecting the mitigation of malicious traffic.

We have waited a reasonable period of 1 hour and 30 minutes to assess the
situation. Since no improvements were observed, we decided to redirect the
traffic of customers using IPs protected by Path.net to another AntiDDoS
provider, Datacamp (CDN77), to maintain service stability and security.

We have confirmed that the incident is affecting multiple Path.net locations
globally, including Miami, Tokyo, Phoenix, Singapore, and Madrid.

At this time, Path.net has not issued any official statement regarding the
    cause or estimated resolution time.

If you have a BGP session with us, please remember that you can use the
following communities to select your preferred AntiDDoS protection:

59432:6661 → Activate AntiDDoS protection with Voxility - WORKING NORMALLY
59432:6662 → Activate AntiDDoS protection with Path.net (currently not functional)
59432:6663 → Activate AntiDDoS protection with Datacamp - WORKING NORMALLY

We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may cause and appreciate
your patience. We will continue to monitor the incident closely and will keep
you informed as soon as we have updates.

Did Path state what the issue was?

  • Path once sent a forged Canadian court order to an American provider to take down my service. When that did not work, they then hired a California attorney to try and trick my provider into pulling out my hard drives as part of a 'preservation of evidence' that usually precedes civil litigation. They never followed up with any threats. They were trying to hide that their CTO at the time had openly discussed watching child pornography. Very sick group of people, pleased to see they are going bankrupt. Hope some of them land in jail!

  • Lets keep it civil please. Only current outage discussion.
