Balls are regenerating... They have given bucks a timeline. Sometimes balls are stronger than they appear. Use with caution!
Why are you playing with each others' balls?
I guess you don't play basketBALL? do you not play baseBALL? Do you not play footBALL?
Do you play them alone??
At the very least it's a lie because those "doubled" resources are not free (for the provider), nor are providers here to make people happy. They are here/open a promo/sales thread for one reason only: to make profit.
What actually happens is this: they offer the product with e.g. half the bandwidth and offer to "double" it that is, to actually give you the bandwidth calculated in for that product, IF you play their (thread) numbers, keep their thread high up, "use customers like bots" game.
Win-win-win for them - and for free.
You actually get nothing, just the product as it was calculated and then artificially crippled and then artificially restored after you served them and their dirty shit-game.
Also, I suggest to ponder what @Mumbly said. Plus: some script for us is not really a good solution. There's only very few actually real solutions and they all require the LET management to act. Either via
IMO rules are the best and most efficient way but might be problematic for diverse reasons.
I am more of an observer myself of said sports. Btw, baseball is a weird game but I am not going down that hole right now.
I don't think this is quite true, but I just want to quote the next line first.
The truth is that most people who get the double bandwidth are simply never going to use it. They wouldn't have hit the lower limit, so they're not going to hit the new limit either. But getting something FREE makes you feel good.
Usually the PE class uses 2 basketballs and 1 football ("两个篮球一个足球"), shared among 28 boys.
One time I misunderstood the teacher's instruction (I heard "两人一个足球" one football for every two boys) and checked out 14 footballs from the equipment room.
That's the best PE class ever.
I can kick 13 footballs around in a corner of the playground, instead of waiting for the only football to appear in front of me, which usually happens only twice per class.
Balls.
Nope, not really. you don't get anything for free. All you get is the illusion, the feeling, to get something for free.
You probably are partially right though about (most of) them not actually using the "added" bandwidth. But careful, that logic breaks with "additional" memory.
And being at "the truth" (TM): the truth is that people, especially in crowds, do not work the way they "think" (actually: have been taught) they do but rather like a herd that is easy to manipulate.
For instance, they "know" about it but act as if it were not the case: (At least nowadays) "if something is free YOU are the product".
I think what @ralf sid hits the nail on the head.
Providers are here for nothing but profit
The providers set a deal with half specs for bandwidth and hope that folks participate keeping the thread afloat in the hopes of more sales
End users, and I am probably going for a stretch here, mjj or equivalent, feel they have won a jackpot. They have their usecaase to have additional bandwidth due to whatever reasons they cite.
At the end majority users will use only a pinch of their allotment and that is what the providers are counting on.
The users, get a sense of getting an upgrade for simply participating and posting the order numbers which adds nothing of value to providers or this forum.
It is all done to drive up $$$.
Yes there are random giveaways that allow users to a sense of winning something and participate by posting nonsensical crap or the has tags defined. Cause, who doesn't love free stuff (with giveaways it is definitely skewing to really free for user) and add a golden feather to provider being labeled generous
Which internet allows more participation and additional views and keep thread over all others.
I agree with raif too. And I think it'd help buyers if offers threads were more signal and less noise.
But unless we actively bump the good offers with complimentary feedback, the bad offers will flood the front page because they'll be bumped by complaints.
It'd be great for popcorn sales but not so good for the providers with good offers/service.
The community has been thriving on this for over 5 -7 years now (or more)
It's never gonna change.
If they do implement any such rule, it will drop the engagement by a lot. why would they do that?
On the other hand, if they really cared for quality content, such an action would have been stopped long time ago.
At this point all I have heard is wait for a few days.
Without any tangible end date I feel nothing is ever going to materialize.
I hope I am proved wrong.
dont care really as long there option to sort post by date
Nothing will happen now. I bet. This thread wil sink some time.
Maybe i should spam a bit until my provider tag cancellation i sent takes place end of billing period in March.
I haven't been following this thread so pardon me if this has already been brought up. It just occurred to me as I scrolled by.
What if there was a mechanic, something like a poll attached to the opening promotional post, with which a user could fill out a form with "order number double ram" which could then be injected into a single reserved post and simultaneously bump the thread without creating any unnecessary spam.
Providers get to maintain activity with promos. Users get to double stuff. Spam is not fully eliminated but contained and managed.
Maybe have a push notification system in place so when providers double things the user gets an alert which will also stimulate activity in the forums.
Anyways, just an idea: not fully fleshed out. Consider it kindly
build out your best VPS deals and go out with a bang

My math instructor in college knew pi to 99 digits. And only because more than that served no practical purposes in impressing people because people stop caring after a while.
@Arkas My simple user script works well enough, at least on my end. Is it possible to add a button that behaves like this?
@jbiloh
It's time to put an end to these pointless posts. Page 62 is a perfect example of this;
https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/202026/double-ram-cloud-vps-1c1g-7-year-asia-europe-us/p62
The entire page is full of @CLAWCLOUD 's posts and nothing else. Rules don't take years to make and implement.
That thread is a bit abnormal. I wonder if all the purchases are genuine.
I was thinking so too, since the offer is valid on only first purchase of each account and there are people with multiple orders. I did check their account and their only comments were on the above thread but they joined on dec 2024 so can't say anything. Just saw that there are new accounts too that literally registered on 24th and placed 3-4 orders or more
I believe most of them are from China. Since their connection to Chinese networks is good, I think they are purchasing to use it as a VPN or for resale purposes to users who can't purchase directly within China.
Tells you which to avoid, searching finds the offers from the better providers.
I may order but I don't 'comment my order number' in those, especially for double the monthly transfer..
I couldn't follow all those pages. We haven't established official rules yet? What is the current enforcement policy? Allowed or not allowed or any exception?
We're not fans of those pumping games, but as others have mentioned, if everyone else is playing, it's hard to stay out of it.

The one way to solve spam problem is to reduce VPS RAM && bandwidth by double on each order number post. A revolutionary idea!
This is the ideas thread. So there won't be a concrete rules as of yet.
There was a $7/first-year + double RAM offer in the thread, and unsustainable prices like this generate a lot of sales.
Since the sale ended on the 23rd, I guess the moderators will just let the thread sink naturally once the seller has honored all the double RAM requests.
I mean even meme gifs are fine, but the spam to win hashtags or messages must go away. They are like cancer to the eye. I've been advocating a lot to put an end to this spam-to-win culture. Nice to see this taken into consideration and getting banished from LET
Huh, a change that might make me pay for the special provider tag again. Let me know when changes are implemented.
