Explain
I didn't get your point
my explanation is
I use my finger as or like a dick quite often my girlfriend loves it..lol, I am no master server admin by any means, but even I know you can't rely on using the resources of the data center as a consistent back up, you are complaining about a you problem,
And let me add there was nothing wrong with the analogy, the car can get to where it needs to be fast if there's no traffic in the lanes, if there's traffic he has to slow down and move with the traffic, same as the freaking data in the data center,
As stated you're using the data centers resources, I think you're assuming that you're backing up to the same server node server every time you run a backup within the data center, hell you may not even be backing up to a server within the data center it may be off site sometimes.
I’m not complaining at all, this is not my problem, it’s Crunchbits' problem. I just wanted to hear what other people here think about it.
Mainly, I am focusing on the extremely long backup process here, not on anything else.
And looking at your post again the only really bad one is January 17th and you got one on January 16th that took almost a half hour, and why are you doing so many backups I see you have two there on the 12th, 16th and 17th within several hours of each other what the hell, Cry Me a River.
I started using shared hosting in 1996. From 2001 onwards, for many years, I relied on shared hosting from Stormwire (https://stormwire.com/) for my clients' websites, as I have been involved in web development for over 20 years. Recently, for personal needs, I have been renting a VPS. In general, I am not exactly a beginner; I’ve seen and learned quite a bit about hosting. In fact, in almost 28 years of experience, I have never encountered a situation where a backup process took more than an hour, even on shared hosting.
perhaps shared hosting suits your needs most.
go for namecrane
Wow you're a real prize, you're complaining because one day out of the days you posted it it took an hour to do a backup, so basically you started a post to throw the company under a bus and then advertise another one, what Crunchbits should do is Ban your server account and tell you to take your business elsewhere.
I made so many backups because:
I’m not complaining at all, as I have no problem (the problem is with Crunchbits), and I’m not advertising anyone.
What could Crunchbits potentially ban me for? For sharing details about the backup process here on a public forum? 🙂
I need a reliable VPS host. Maybe it's better to try Clouvider and RackNerd?
do they provide backup?
I do not know.
I've already tried 3 hosts here – Little Creek Hosting, Chunkserve, and Crunchbits. The worst one out of these three is Little Creek Hosting - https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/201865/why-is-my-amd-epyc-vps-3-5x-slower-than-my-intel-xeon-vps/p1
About a year and a half ago, their blog mentioned:
I doubt many people are reading such old posts now, but regardless, it seems their backups might not be intended for regular use. Considering alternative backup solutions could still be a more efficient approach.
A Karen from web hosting world. Damn.
This would be a fair comment had the OP not rocked up shouting about how terrible the company was, when it turns out (as expected) that he was doing something stupid and/or had unreasonable demands of shared resources.
If he'd instead created this thread not naming and providers, and just said "my backups are slow", gave his timings and then said "anyone know what I can do to improve this?" then the trajectory of this thread would have been totally different.
Well, what exactly was the stupidity on my part? Is expecting the company to deliver the promised UNBEATABLE PERFORMANCE something excessive on my end?
Cry me a river, Democrat.
Bruh
I see you are still serious (LOL) so the answer is:
a) using something that you do not control
b) don't know how it works
c) never ever asked support how it was supposed to work
to "test performance".
Stupidity on your part is thinking the backup is part of the performance of the server as I said you should be banned from being a customer
You really need to consider changing your attitude my dude. If everywhere you go smells like shit, maybe it’s time to check your shoe.
You do realize you can get a low cost server VPS and do your own backups, only time I ever use the data center backup was when I first started learning to use servers via digital ocean,
Hell you can even do backup to your own local home network hard drive, if you got enough download speed and enough upload speed for ReStore, I personally can't do it cuz my upload speed sucks from my home network
I know that a VPS is essentially the same as so-called "shared hosting," but with higher technical specifications and more advanced technical capabilities for the user. After all, we expect better performance from a VPS than from regular shared hosting, right?
I don’t need to ask Support about this. Why ask them? I have performance facts – a normal backup creation takes about 1 minute, while an abnormally long one takes 1 hour 17 minutes (another time it was 14 minutes, 39 seconds, which I also find very slow in my opinion). The facts speak for themselves.
I chose a VPS from Crunchbits because I saw the topic "Top Provider Award": https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/192410/provider-poll-2023-the-results/p1
Common Man just leave it as it is, I think this itself might start into other debate. I think now you can ask the mods to close the thread if you think you have got the answers you were looking for [like also including another backup place and not depending on one] crunchbits did answer from their official account here that thier backup service is not to be totally relied on.
Yes, sweetheart, it's part of the server's performance if you didn’t know. And it matters to me as a user. And what exactly am I supposed to be banned for? For openly discussing server performance and the quality of service I received from a public company? And why do you think I shouldn’t be a customer of Crunchbits? Do you want to make decisions for them and run their business?
If I'm your sweetheart you must be my cupcake
