could always offer one up in your own GA

If im not mistaken Deus was floating around the idea of doing a GA recently with one of his idle nodes. I actually won a recent GA that was sponsored by a feel LET user. <3 very grateful for it

np ;) I skimmed it but running around a bit at the moment so i need to come back to it

Wanted to do a tldr version of it to begin with, just didn't notice it had become an essay once until i was done typing.

Lol, i understand how it goes. I found myself in that mindset often in the black friday thread however things have changed here ;)

    Changed for the good 👍

wow, that would be pretty sweet

TBH im not sure whether it ever existed or not but they were talking about it being a thing. Was a good prize for playing that game of roulette

That is quite ambitious, if we just tag around on the hype train chi is creating that could happen

Theres a space available. Im also going to probably start peeling back next week significantly.. I am trying to get my last few breaths of hype going. Im not sure if people noticed i started to slow down a bit as well compared to how it has been going

What's up BTW? You been a little less active lately.

What's up BTW? You been a little less active lately.

Still trying to work off my hype hang over! I still keep an eye on the thread for dustin. I've also let my personal projects fall too far behind. I.e. the parser library for LET which falls under this category as well!

  • @noob404 have you heard anything from trk or xpress about if they still have a way to get the lappy?

I posted once, maybe even twice yesterday or the day before but it got lost in the hype i think. I never noticed the response scrolling through

Oh yah. BTW, dude, wanted to give you a heads-up, might be a good idea to get permission from LET staff before going for the parser. Not sure if MrEd had to get that or not. Just a suggestion

TrK can always get it using one of his forwarding services and xpress can too, I guess. I believe both of them would love to have the laptop and might not mind any small additional charges that they might be hit with for shipping and customs

oh.. thats probably a good idea.. thats all that robots.txt thing right? I was actually thinking of just dumping it here on offtopic somewhere. I saw other people had stats pages for the megathread so i just assumed its good to go but maybe thats not the right way to go about it.. I will definitly check in if thats the case.

nice ok. Forwarding services meaning someone that can pick it up and simply bring it home as if they always owned it? Or forwarding services as in a professional carrier?

  • Perhaps i should just drop the whole idea of the parser now xD It was a good idea and atleast a good exercise. Now you have me worried. Other people are already getting the job done so why re-invent the wheel.

Im not opposed to just tossing it. It was a good lesson in learning python and chatgpt did the hard stuff. Its only 285 lines and that does pretty much all the databasing of posts to a sqlite db. Has logic to throttle how often you grab the data, and will never revisit a page after finding all 30 posts.

I need maybe ~25 final lines of adjustment maybe 100 tops and its ready

          6 ./config.ini
          9 ./__main__.py
         81 ./let_parse/application.py
         51 ./let_parse/web_client.py
         25 ./let_parse/parse_status.py
         36 ./let_parse/db_client.py
         15 ./let_parse/author_repo.py
         18 ./let_parse/post_repo.py
         44 ./let_parse/parse_repo.py
        285 total

BTW @noob404 .. should we be worried about Dustin? He has been surprisingly absent as of late.. He was very active in the black friday thread. People seem to be waiting for a while on the bandwidth double as well these days. Do we know if he and his staff is safe from the fires?

Sad. I wanted the 3/yr deal!

    Sad indeed

Do you think it's possible racknerd delivers a 1GB 3/yr vps deal!?

I doubt it, even the flash sale pair of 640MB VPS I had in New York from them were $6.79/yr. Never know though I suppose, anything is possible.

True, I am overly optimistic on that one!

Racknerd offers a 1GB 0/yr vps deal! If we work hard enough and are lucky, it may even be free for 3 years.

Eyyy @suut I found this in the archives from an old thread, forgot you were one of the people that got the nifty graphic back then.

Thanks! I'm thinking of changing to a shorter username.

Less than zero characters so it breaks the forum.

    whats wrong with your username??

    Can you change your username?

    that's a good question

I am not sure if you can or not.. but this would probably be the absolute worst time to change your usename if its allowed in the middle of a rack nerd new years thread :)

You have the stuff shipped to a forwarder's warehouse in the US from where the forwarder will ship it to your place using a carrier of your choice.

Yeah maybe i just give up on it xD it does seem like a bad idea now.. Especially if i just throw it out there in the public. It does have some features to throttle ever request you make but you can obviously just change the code easily.
Its not like its hard to make something just spam get requests.. but if multiple people start spinning this thing up with low throttles they might get annoyed

Ah got it, so theres no avoidance of customs in that case then. One of them had a friend that could accept it. I think TrK? I forget now it was so long ago.. I assume using that route would help with the customs problem

I may just keep it for myself but honestly the ui is my least favourite part ;) I just wanted to collect the data and i could make a dumb ui to just print the data. Didnt care so much about the presentation.

I also wanted to be nice adn just throw it out there, no license or anything for others to mess with as im sure other people would like to just see what data they can find in there.
