Damn, I totally forgot that Ionos is blocking ICMP by default. Now I'll have to find an ip in that range that unblocked this? @Neoon did you once had a tool for this job of finding pingable ips?
Can confirm - no kyc for Germany
Eh, just go through the firewall rules and disable it entirely.
Also smtp is blocked. Do not sign up. Do not spoil everything. Go to ratnerd.
You're right, it's 1 EUR on https://www.ionos.fr/serveurs/vps
I'm trying to find a pingable IP on Ionos US as they don't publish any lg or test ips and as I don't have a Ionos (US dc) product. If I would have a service from them, I surely would have an IP to ping.
I will go through all my contracts, to find the right one, gimme a second.

For US, if you want something dead-center they really have a really good DC and connection. Good/cheaper alternative to Texas.

Arguably connected at the better exchange within Kansas C with 100G. They invested a ton in that region.
This one seems to be in qts in Newark, so the Ionos cloud (former profitbricks) but not the Ionos owned dc in Lenexa? Or am I wrong?
So do they host those vps in their cloud dcs as of 2024/2025? The dedis are still only in Lenexa, iirc.
But for Lenexa I'm only finding Tierpoint and Lightedge.
For Germany, they also got 2 locations, would not surprise me.
Mine is on that network range.
That is correct, they have multiple DCs in US.
You can use tools such as: https://ipinfo.io/ips/67.217.240.0/24 - to find a pingable IP from their range in Kansas.
Thank you, that helped. Spot on. Also nice to see that the ipinfo page lists pingable ips in a range. I've somehow missed to see that feature on ipinfo.
Well, I wanted to try their other US location, they ended up taking my money but not even confirming my order, well fuck.
Is the checkout broken for someone else too?
was never instant for me. Up to 24hrs.
The confirmation was instant, delivery like 20-30 minutes tops.
However right now, it doesn't even leave the checkout page just takes my money.
Levi is joking you just have you send support a request. Make sure to sign up people and get that 75% discount!!

I just saw this post on Reddit about IONOS
fping is the job for this. Ping an entire prefix in parallel.
Yea I had/have.

However, the server that hold on to the raw files, got abused.
Someone managed to abuse all the available bandwidth by downloading them all over and over again.
The database is probably outdated, still have to fix it.
ionos vps has 1 gbps unmetered. is this true?
It's 10gbit, and yes it's unbeatable, I use the small one for website and everytime I create a new one I just deploy a VPS XS so everything is sepperate, I didn't find a better reliable offer yet
No, you get your ass beaten after a few TB
Never encountered it yet, maybe if you continuesly using it yes, but that's normal.
Possibly, the ex IONOS employee lied to me but I doubt it.
How much do you push on yours?
I use it mainly for website so not that much, but I used it for VPN also in past and had no issue.
We had many servers with them for a customer a few years back, there system was great but I always prefer to know the owners of companies I work with in the hosting space.
I remember when they were 1&1 and come to USA out of Germany. Gave me 3 years hosting for free and I stayed a customer for 20+ years. Unlimited storage via ftp 🙂.At the end the billing got squirrelly and the customer service was not good. Left them several years ago when I found leb/let and went from hosting to vps
if you want that, I would go with OVH instead
Is the most shit company I used and definitely not fast, IONOS way better connection
