I installed nginx on my alpine racknerd vps

What's the memory usage looking like?

    36 mb now

still just pennies in the grand scheme of things!

    Yes haha

now try throwing a latest minecraft server on there! :) Make use of all that space you saved

Yeah I was just manipulating the page for fun screenshots. :)

Mr ed is gonna to have to add some of that fancy java script monitoring now that detects changes in the page and reverts it :)

I'm just using developer options in Firefox, local edits B)

Is nginx forwarding to the minecraft service?

    Nope. Just hosting static site

ah i see. What did you end up using for the static site? You were weighing some kind of blog right?

..Do we know if duston actually uses your site to get the official counts? I guess if he doesnt, we also have some insight into how he manages to find all the double bandwidth requests. Probably has a scraper of his own!

He counts by hand, that's why he's not talking very much. He's writing it all on paper while hitting F5. :p Just kidding that would be horrible.

yeah hes gotta have something to make it easier ;)

wonder how often he misses and that 72 hour window hits and people start bugging him. Im sure people bug him before that 72 hour window too...

I figured.. Most sites protect against those local edits doing anything deadly..

Funny story.. my major city was once taking payments on a prepaid card and onloy did like $5 increments.. I eneded up on an odd increment and i edited the source to actually allow it to take pennies so i could end up with an even balance.. It actually accepted my order.. Wish they would just allow custom payment amounts since it was clearly possible :)

the two gumstick Nimh batteries used in the original Cybiko, and even their single blockier cousin used in the Cybiko Xtreme are notorious for leaking. I've yet to find a NIB Cybiko that hasn't had this happen to some extent, and it seems to be a coin toss whether or not the corrosion is limited to the battery compartment, and hasn't also affect the keys on the front, or worse.

There goes my hopes and dreams.. i need to find this thing fast.. its probably too late

nice. And no noticable lag for just yourself? That makes me want to try throwing it up on one of my 2GB racknerd vps...

I havent joined it yet. My vps has 6 threads in total so i could always increase it

oh wow thats a pretty vps. I think that might be able to combat the issues of not having a dedicate core. My vps are always 1 or 2 vpus because i really dont have anything that is super demanding.. a mine craft server could change that

Yeah i used to host a minecraft server for some friends but it closed (we barely played anymore). Now i basically only need like 2 Gb ram and a single vcpu.

They are just kind of lose interest? We go through phases on our server. We always end up rebuilding it every couple of years when we come back to it and that keeps us on the latest version

Oh I've done stuff like that too, usually harmless. Sometimes you can get places you're not really supposed to by enabling disabled buttons and whatnot though. Most websites, like you said, have safeguards and checks in place to prevent this. :)

The ones that dont sound like some kind of rookie website like i'd make. But then again, im not realy dealing with anything that touches money or requires any kind of security

Wonder if at some point we are going to hit a limit and what that limit might be. I feel like after the first 10 or 20, its really hard to keep up anyway.. that might as well be a reasonable limit to set

Ah that makes sense. Thats typically what would eat up free time, school or work. We mostly stopped for those reasons as well or people were on such different schedules you never see anyone anyway so you mighjt as well play alone.

Have you tried just hosting on your home PC? I did that as well for a while. Cheaper and if ip moves just change DNS records. All of us are close by anyway so it gets best latency. I'd like to get a host next time just to make it a little easier though
