BTW I was just checking out MrEd's stat page and i am pretty sure this is the comment that will take me to 5,000...Atleast I hope it is.. Little did I know that just a few days ago when i very first entered this thread i would one day find myself at 5,000 comments. My how this thread has really taken a hold of me :')

Well, I would say, the Stats page really encourages to be more active when you know the competition :)

True, perhaps thats it. See you were lurking here ;) didnt even have to tag

Awesome, do you guys have access to NASA Fibre on a commercial level?

    No, we use these!

    Ooh. The handhelds NASA uses.

I missed this.. was trying to find a post about resource monitoring on vps servers and this image caught my eye.. I still have my cybko from back in the day! Apparently there is a big community around modding these and flashing custom images on the hardware. I need to start messing with mine some more but cant find the time

I think mine might still be buried somewhere in my Mom's garage, who knows when I'll have time to get over there and find it. I'd love to bring it back to life and mod it though.

Those tooks batteries rather than having a rechargeable right? I realy hope wherever mine is i took the batteries out.. I hope they havent leaked and rotted the thing out. I know I do have it. I have a couple boxes of old electronics scattered around, just need to find it.

They took some weird proprietary rechargable actually.

I see. I dont know much about batteries, but in that case it sounds like there might be a chance they actually didnt leak!? Maybe they are sealed better or have no acid at all to leak? :) Now you got my hopes up!

They leak, but there is hope!

    Cybiko Repair

Ah dang it. Atleast theres some ways to fix it but it would've been much easier to just not have it leak in the first place... I need to go find that thing pronto

    Which color is your Cybiko?

pretty sure it was the clear purpple one

    Same here!

nice good choice! I think one of my family members had the translucent green too. They were all translucent right?

I bought mine at OfficeMax on the clearance shelf for $20 a couple years after they flopped. All they had was purple, but it looks cool anyway. Wish I would have bought the other couple they had left, it was a killer deal!

I think they were all translucent colors, except for the Cybiko Xtreme.

For the ones playing minecraft, what do y'all think of the Better Than Adventure modpack?

I've setup a server for it.

It uses less than 0.5 GB ram on idle, but that will probably increase once players join

Thats not too bad.. Can fit within a 1GB vps that way but then you still have the vcpus issue :/

Well this is an old version of minecraft, so less features. I am currently running on a single thread on my contabo vps

nice. And no noticable lag for just yourself? That makes me want to try throwing it up on one of my 2GB racknerd vps...

If its a public server, I can try it out and then give a better opinion as to if i like it or not :)

Well it's just plain old survival (but with a modpack of course)

Does it just essentially "revert" to the old minecraft version?

Yes, but the modpack adds more features that the beta versions of minecraft didnt have.

Any notable ones you like the most? I wish there were more types of mobs

dont want to share this one Bas? ;) no problem

Uh well i am going to make an alternative to DirectAdmin haha

Ah cool. If it works out well and is bug free. Maybe you can give it to rack nerd for "free" to help spread the word of it and get the first real world customer! Good way to advertise and show it will be a viable replacement!

Yeah i will probably sponsor one or multiple hosts

Good way to get some initial marketing if you can get one of them to give you a chance! Just gotta be ready to go when you start pushing for that route

Well it will take months to develop

i would imagine. Its not an easy task and these current ones didnt just pop up over night!

Yeah. I am not sure if it will have a free version tho

Yeah doesnt make sense i dont think to have a free one. There has to be money coming in some how.. its more of an enterprise solution, every day people arent usually looking for something like that

Yeah the Xtreme was the second version but I'm guessing they were less popular because I've only heard about them, and never saw one.

  • To be fair, its not that easy, because for simplicity I used H2 DB, and I would have to download the DB, change data while on debug mode and upload the DB back :)

..Do we know if duston actually uses your site to get the official counts? I guess if he doesnt, we also have some insight into how he manages to find all the double bandwidth requests. Probably has a scraper of his own!

Interesting.. never heard of this one. Looks like its effectively sqlite (in features) but was design specifically for connections from java? I would go the same route instead.. keep it simple, usually use sql lite though but i dont often work in java

Mr ed is gonna to have to add some of that fancy java script monitoring now that detects changes in the page and reverts it :)

He counts by hand, that's why he's not talking very much. He's writing it all on paper while hitting F5. :p Just kidding that would be horrible.

oh wow thats a pretty vps. I think that might be able to combat the issues of not having a dedicate core. My vps are always 1 or 2 vpus because i really dont have anything that is super demanding.. a mine craft server could change that
