To be honest we have all these things

I can’t use vi or anything that isn’t nano :D

You know that joke about how people don't know how to close vi? I literally have that on new installs when I get that stupid nano thing instead if I try to edit a crontab or similar. And I can never remember the permutation of words about alternatives to just switch the default to vi, so I just apt-get remove nano instead.

    u what

    ctrl x

    y

    enter

    done

I would only think of trying ^X if I wanted to cut something.

On second thoughts, wrists might be an option if I had to keep using nano. :p

Honestly, if I saw the real names listed, with the exception of Buffalo, I wouldn't have guessed they were even in the US.

Haha. True for most people actually

I use nano and vi side by side because nano really can't handle copy-paste well in terminal emulator.

Press shift when you click your mouse button if it's decided it knows how to use a mouse.

How you name your server anyways? My current suffix is <random name>.xxx.xx for memoriable, but now i have too much and im out of names now :D . Not to mention that 75% of idle i got from BF/CM/CHRISTMAS/NY doesnt even have a name

    Location code name + nickname
The code name can be IATA code of the nearest airport with the same name of the location, or UN/LOCODE, or local code name.
Nickname is whatever I feel like it's suitable. Mostly inspired by Touhou. The name night have some relation to the location, but can also be random.

Literally the very first one I saw when I zoomed in was WA-cumbitch. Then scrolling around, SIN-saygex. I approve of GD-shabi and HEL-sink though.

ye, now i wonder what's @mandala provider in Ulaanbaatar 🥭?

Some very random provider. The price is decent given very exotic location that no one needs or cares about, but I'm not sure if I will keep it another year.

Does this rival the legendary deals?

Pick a topic at random and you've got a maybe 30% chance of hitting a HH one.

Although about half of them were created by someone who's not ordered anything and never been a customer and just likes giving some providers shit anyway.

The absolutely guaranteed way regardless of what state it's in is:

    ESC ESC :q!

The ESCs will get you out of any editing modes and make sure you're in navigation mode.
    starts a command
    q is quit
! means force quit without saving, don't ask any questions

Way to go. Once yo see how painful it is to reboot every time you open the files you will slowly catch up

I do have a kind of confession. Years ago, I used to like emacs. That's it.

I actually survived 2 years as a sysadmin using emacs and no idea how to use vi.

Then I got a job migrating a shit ton of machines from SunOS 4.somethingold to Solaris 2.6 and none of them had anything except vi and because they were government machines, I wasn't allowed to install hippy software like emacs.

After being forced to use it for a 1 month contract, I realised afterwards that even knowing only about 20% of the key bindings, I was still quicker editing most files with it than I was with emacs, and I've used it ever since.

I've never used emacs as a daily driver. Now probably forgotten most of that.

Have a few bruddah that use emacs only and nothing else.

Everyone has their own pick. But knowing emacs or vi and usually you will be gold
